Hansel couldn’t understand what Jensen was thinking anymore; he’d always felt Jensen lost all sense of reason whenever it came to Natalic.
Back when Jensen believed Sharon was his savior, he had defended her fiercely, even at the cost of hurting Natalie. Now that Natalie clearly wanted nothing to do with him, Jensen had become stubborn and obsessive again–acting as if he couldn’t live without her.
If only he’d known it would come to this, Hansel thought. Why make such a mess in the first place? But he didn’t dare say it out loud.
Jensen’s eyes were bloodshot. He knew he was being irrational, but he couldn’t stop himself.
The people from the Stone family might not include that useless Baron.
He would never allow Baron to be the one who saved Natalie in her moment of danger.
He knew better than anyone how Natalie felt about her saviors.
That one rescue from a burning building had already tilted her heart toward Baron; Jensen couldn’t let him have another chance to play the hero.
When Hansel hesitated to follow his orders, Jensen suddenly snatched a gun from one of the men beside him and aimed it at the Stone family’s helicopter.
“Baron, go to hell!”
He looked completely deranged, and Hansel was terrified.
He wanted to stop him, but the risk of getting shot by accident froze him in place; all he could do was watch Jensen lose control.
Rachel never expected Jensen to open fire on the Stone family’s aircraft.
She froze for a moment, then shouted, “Mr. Jensen! We’re from the Stone family–Natalie’s mother’s side! We’re here to rescue her!”
The helicopter flew low; despite the thundering blades, Rachel’s voice carried clearly to Jensen’s ears.
At the window stood the masked man–Dylan–watching coldly without a word, making no move to stop him.

The downdraft from the rotors made it hard for Jensen to stand steady.

He saw Rachel–and the man beside her. Though the man’s face was half–turned gleam from his silver mask caught the sunlight, flashing in Jensen’s eyes.

He immediately thought of Witch Doctor. The Witch Doctor was known for wearing a silver mask. Could it be him? Why was he here? Did Baron bring him?
Jensen’s mind spiraled. Baron had once hired Witch Doctor to treat someone from the Mateo family–and had even repaid the debt of saving Natalie’s life by taking a knife for her. That meant Baron had to be on that helicopter.
He was just too much of a coward to show his face.
And Rachel-
If it weren’t for her, his mother, Loretta, wouldn’t have been so heartbroken.
The memory of Loretta’s last message flared in his mind, and Jensen’s eyes turned a deeper shade of red.
These people are all obstacles standing between me and Natalie. I’ll end them all while I have the chance.
With that thought, Jensen raised his gun and aimed it straight at Rachel.
“Die”
He whispered the word and pulled the trigger.
Rachel had come out because she was worried about Jensen, but when she saw the hatred and murderous intent in his eyes–and the bullet speeding toward her–her knees gave out in
terror
She collapsed to the floor as the bullet grazed her scalp.
Had she not fallen, it would’ve gone straight through her heart.
Her own son had just tried to kill her.
Rachel felt the blood in her veins turn to ice.
How could this be happening? Why would he try to kill me? Her mind went blank; that question echoed endlessly, but there was no one to answer it.
Dylan gave her a brief glance but said nothing. Instead, he looked down at Jensen and said

coolly, “He’s clearly lost his mind. Forget him–we’re checking what’s happening below.”
The Stone family’s people followed Dylan’s lead without question.
But just as they prepared to land, Rio received word and immediately called Dylan.
“Dylan, you’re with the Stone family, right? Ms. Stone’s been rescued and is already on her way back. I’ve taken over the situation here. If there’s nothing urgent, please return for now.”
Since Rio represented the authorities, Dylan had no reason to refuse. Their mission had been to find Natalie, and if she was safe, there was no reason to stay.
“Let’s go–head back,” Dylan ordered.
The helicopter began to turn around.
Rachel kept her eyes fixed on Jensen; her eyes were red, and tears glimmered as they slipped down her face–but no one seemed to notice.
When Jensen saw the Stone family’s aircraft flying away, he froze.
“What’s going on?”
He turned to Hansel.
Hansel had no idea either.
And just then, Rio and his men arrived.
