Susie sighed before continuing, “That old man was really elderly; Sean said he must’ve passed out from low blood sugar. So he went and bought a chocolate bar for him. When the old man came to, he was so grateful that he offered to drive us home. But Sean said we couldn’t let our guard down just because someone was old or looked weak, and we shouldn’t give strangers our real address. So we gave him Mr. Payne’s address instead.”

Flynn’s eyes widened.

“You gave him Brian’s address?”

He didn’t even know where to start.

Was Payne’s home address something you could just give out like that?

But that wasn’t even the main issue; how did these two kids even come up with that idea?

Still stunned, Flynn asked them about it directly, while Waylon instinctively turned to look at Susie as well.

Susie just shrugged and said casually, “Why not give Mr. Payne’s address? He’s a big shot! My brother said nobody would dare mess around at a big shot’s house. And if that old man really had bad intentions, he’d think twice once he heard where we lived. My brother’s really smart.”

Waylon and Flynn exchanged a look and nodded.

Sean really was a clever little brat.

After chatting for a bit, they all regrouped with Sean. Payne was still leading the hunt for that man; although many of the black–clad men had been caught, the interrogation work was something Waylon and Flynn couldn’t get involved in.

They didn’t overthink it and took Sean and Susie home.

To comfort the kids, Waylon personally went into the kitchen to make them a meal.

The two of them must’ve been exhausted; after dinner, they went straight to bed. But before falling asleep, Susie rubbed her eyes and asked, “Grandpa, we haven’t seen Mom or Dad these past two days. Did they sneak off to have fun without us?”

Sean turned his gaze to Waylon as well.

He still hadn’t told the children that Natalie was missing; he didn’t want to break their hearts. And he had no idea if Baron had found her yet.

He patted Susie’s head gently. “They’ve just been busy with something lately; they’ll be back soon. Don’t worry.”

“Grandpa, are Mom and Dad trying to have another baby for us?” Sean suddenly blurted out, almost making Waylon choke.

“What baby? Where’d you even get that idea?”

Sean looked completely serious. “Didn’t Mom and Dad get married? And they always go out together without us; they must be trying to have another baby in secret. Grandpa, tell them we’re not against them having another kid. They don’t need to sneak around.”

Susie, still half–asleep, nodded quickly.

“Yeah! We won’t get jealous. If they have another baby, we’ll be the big brother and sister; then we’ll have a little sibling to boss around–oh yeah!”

She even raised her hand for a high five.

Sean met her palm with a loud slap.

Waylon and Flynn were both speechless. Kids these days….are they all this sharp?

Holding back his laughter, Flynn sent the two to bed.

Once they were settled, Waylon finally sat down in the living room.

“Any word from the Stone family yet?”

“Yes. Apparently, when our people reached Ocevaris, there was already a shootout. A lot of the big players turned back. Dylan wanted to return too, but Rachel suddenly spotted Jensen and tried to talk to him; she almost got herself hurt by him. They said she looked… off.”

Flynn relayed the message he’d gotten from Dylan.

Waylon frowned slightly.

“Jensen? What’s the connection between Rachel and Jensen?”

“No idea. But apparently, Madam Lu and Rachel have some kind of link–it might be tied to what happened more than twenty years ago when your sister was switched at birth.”

“Rachel didn’t contact anyone after arriving in Ocevaris?”

“Doesn’t seem like it.”

Flynn’s people had been monitoring Rachel the whole time; she hadn’t reached out to anyone, and there hadn’t been any outgoing signals.

Waylon’s expression darkened.

“When Rachel gets back, detain her immediately and make her talk. I suspect she’s connected to that man who came to the house today.”

Thinking of that man made Waylon’s brow furrow even tighter. Who was he? And why did he know their family so well?

Back then, even Ruby hadn’t known about what happened to Moses–let alone Rachel, who’d only joined the Stones later on.
