Jensen didn’t give up until Natalie’s figure completely disappeared from sight. Staring at the empty courtyard, he felt as though every ounce of strength had drained from his body.

Shauna dragged him out the front gate. Seeing him standing there, hollow–eyed and defeated, she let out a cold snort. “Mr. Jensen, a woman’s heart can be very small–it can hold only one man for her entire life. Jensen’s body tensed. Shauna could tell immediately–he knew she was right.

Shauna turned and walked away. Jensen didn’t know if it was rage or despair, but his breath caught–then suddenly, with a wet splatter, he coughed up blood and slowly collapsed to the ground.
