So no matter how Ruby tried to defend Xenon, Flynn couldn’t forgive the fact that Natalie had suffered and been lost for so many years.

In truth, Flynn still held deep resentment toward Xenon; he simply kept quiet out of respect for Yvonne and Natalie.

Yvonne noticed his displeasure but didn’t take offense.

Looking at him, she said calmly, “Flynn, I believe in my parents. They would never have done anything to betray the Stone family. There must’ve been more to Natalie’s switch than we know”

“I hope so too. After all, my father and yours were very close.” Flynn wasn’t wrong about that.

He wasn’t someone who blamed people blindly; when it came to Yvonne, he kept a level head.

And he’d heard how, after Baron rescued Natalie from that fire, Yvonne had stayed by her side day and night to care for her.

That was something Flynn would always be grateful for.

Seeing everyone quiet, Natalie broke the silence. “Let’s go; we should see what Uncle Xenon left behind.”

Yvonne nodded.

Yvonne had wondered the same thing before–but after being down there herself, she’d truly grasped what kind of life Alden had endured.

“My dad never meant to hide anything here; Alden moved it himself. This place has always reeked and stayed deserted, which made it the safest spot. And Alden told me that ever since Logan moved into the old estate, he’s been searching for something–Alden suspected it was related.”

As Yvonne finished speaking, she opened the basement door.

The foul stench rushed out like a wave.

Ruby instinctively stepped back.

Flynn immediately said, “Mom, why don’t you and Natalie wait upstairs? Yvonne and I will go down and see what it is. Whatever we find, we’ll bring it up. The air down there is terrible; it won’t help for you two to come along.”

Natalie knew he was worried she couldn’t handle it. But how could I not handle it?

I’ve even thought about going to the Summers family house myself–to see if that basement still exists, to find the whip they used on you. I wanted to drag those people back and ask them, what right did they have? What gave them the right to treat my daughter like that?”
