Chapter 229 Mine To Kill

Alpha Gideon stormed out of the Grand Hall with Alpha Hugo, his aura slicing through the air like a blade.

Alpha Hugo growled, frustration vibrating in his tone. “I still can’t believe the Head of the Council was among us all this time, pretending to be a normal Alpha! We thought we were protecting the Academy’s reputation by keeping certain matters hidden, but the truth is the Head of the Council was here, watching everything unfold firsthand. He stayed silent, letting us make fools of ourselves. No wonder in this trial he was never after the crown. He did not need to win the trial or anything when he had his throne that scared the entire realm. He was actually after Seraphina. He fooled all of us. Not just him, Seth Darven too. No, wait…” He paused bitterly, “Seraphina Nightbane. Now it all makes sense. Grace’s kidnapping wasn’t a mistake after all. Those rogues really were here for a she–wolf, it was Seraphina Nightbane, never Grace.”

He looked at Alpha Gideon’s tight expression, his own voice rising in disbelief. “Say something, Gideon. You’ve been mute since then.”

“What do you want me to say?” Alpha Gideon snapped through gritted teeth. “Do you want me to admit how utterly doomed we are? Or should I start blaming the management for failing to verify the documents these Alphas submitted? Whether they were forged or not doesn’t matter anymore, the Academy is finished, Hugo.” He clenched his fists as his steps echoed down the corridor toward the healers‘ wing. “Alpha Finn is the Head of the Council and he came here for Seraphina Nightbane. He found the King’s runaway bride under our roof! Goddess knows how long he’s known. Now it’s not just the Academy that’s in danger, our packs and our people are at risk too. I need to think of something before-”

“Grace, how could you hide this from me?”

Alpha Gideon froze. The voice came from Grace’s room.

“You knew Seth Darven was a woman, not just any woman. Seraphina Nightbane! How could you keep that from me?” Alpha Jude’s voice was thick with hurt and disbelief.

Alpha Hugo’s stomach dropped, and his gaze flicked to Gideon, whose expression instantly darkened.

Before another word could be spoken, Alpha Gideon stormed into the room, his aura crashing over them like thunder. “GRACE!” he roared.

Grace jumped to her feet, her face pale as fear flickered in her eyes. “Dad…” she whispered.

“HOW DARE YOU-” Gideon’s fury shook the walls as he advanced on her.

“Alpha Gideon,” Jude stepped forward, pulling Grace behind him and shielding her completely. “Don’t,” he warned, his voice low but firm.

Gideon’s glare burned into Jude, but the younger Alpha didn’t move an inch. Grace’s quiet. sobs broke through the tension, soft and trembling. Gideon’s eyes faltered. His daughter had already endured so much, a miscarriage, a coma, and now this.

He drew in a sharp breath, unclenching his fists. “Get Grace out of the Academy,” he ordered, his voice rough but steadier now. “Take her back to the pack and stay with her. Make sure no one, absolutely no one, knows she was aware of Seraphina Nightbane’s identity.”

Without waiting for a response, he turned and strode out of the room.

“But-” Grace began, stepping forward but Jude stopped her with a firm hand.

“We’re leaving,” he said quietly, squeezing her hand as he guided her toward the door.

Grace’s heart twisted as they walked away. She wanted to protest, to explain but guilt weighed heavier than words. She had hidden the truth from the two people who mattered most in her life.

However, just as Grace and Jude exited the healer’s wing, her gaze drifted instinctively toward the Academy building. On the first–floor corridor of the dormitory, she caught sight of a tall man walking with a straight, commanding posture.

Her brows furrowed. His face was unfamiliar. The man pushed open a door and stepped inside Asher’s room.

“Who is he?” she wondered to herself, a strange unease prickling at her neck. Asher was supposed to be isolated, not in his old dorm room.

Inside the room, Asher sat back in his chair, eyes fixed on the monitor before him. The live feed displayed in the tablet Seraphina being escorted outside the grand fall. He had watched the entire trial unfold, every revelation and every betrayal, through the cold glow of the screen.

His gaze slid to the next monitor, where Ronan was shown being restrained, his eyes still locked on Seraphina with barely contained fury and anguish.

“Alpha.”

The man who had entered knelt in the middle of the room.

Asher didn’t look away from the screen. His tone was detached, almost bored. “Spencer, how many times have I told you not to call me that?”

Spenser stiffened. “But, Alpha-”

Asher turned his head slowly, his expression darkening. “Why are you here? Don’t tell me you dared to track me under my father’s orders.”

Spencer flinched and quickly shook his head. “No, Alpha. I–I came here on my own. Not anyone’s order. I am here to deliver something that might make you return home.”

“I’m not returning,” Asher’s voice dropped to a chilling calm. “Return from where from and don’t ever come here again unless you have a death wish.”

Spencer’s pulse spiked, but he forced the words out. “You’ll want to return if you wish to know about the Blood Petal,” he said indirectly exposing the condition for information.

Asher froze. His mind went utterly blank at the mention of that name.

He rose from the chair, his movements slow and deliberate, until he stood directly in front of Spencer. “What do you know about the Blood Petal?” His voice came out low, dangerous.
