No wonder Mrs. Amanda didn't even say hello to her back then.
Lemira wiped away her tears. "But that night, you never replied. I called, and it was Sophia who answered."
If there was nothing going on, why did Sophia have his phone?
Orion thought back carefully. "I was rushing to get my grandma to the hospital. I must have dropped my phone there, and she picked it up for me. I had no idea she answered your call. She never mentioned it."
"How am I supposed to believe you?"
Lemira looked at him calmly, though her heart was still aching.
"I never doubted you, but you've been lying to me for so long. Once trust is broken, it's impossible to restore."
"Lemira, it's not like that. I didn't mean to hide who I am."
"Really? Then tell me why."
Lemira wanted to know the reason.
Orion looked at her, but he couldn't bring himself to speak about the car accident from years ago.
Lemira had always said she hated the driver and the person in the backseat.
At that moment, he truly understood what it meant to feel like his heart was being torn apart.
His grandma was right; he should have been honest from the start. Now, he couldn't bring himself to speak because he couldn't bear to lose her.
He felt trapped, wanting to turn back but finding no way.
"Tell me, why?" Lemira asked again.
But the man across from her fell silent.
Lemira's gaze turned self-mocking; she had a guess. It was probably because of their different backgrounds that he had kept his identity a secret.
So what did their time together even mean?
"Don't ruin our memories. You know we can't continue. Your identity would only bring me endless trouble. I just want a peaceful life."
Lemira turned and left the boxing ring. As she turned away, tears streamed down her face.
She had rehearsed so many lines but couldn't utter more than a couple.
She would never forget when Sophia met her at the café.
She didn't know what else Orion might be hiding from her.
She couldn't take the gamble and didn't want to.
Breaking up was the best option.
"Lemira, wait!"
Orion chased after her but stumbled as he hopped off the ring.
