When They Beg I Rise (Lemira) novel Chapter 691

Lemira looked at the handsome face before her, Mrs. Sinclair's words echoing in her mind.

That woman had said Orion was still hiding things from her.

As much as she didn't want to doubt Orion, she couldn't control her heart.

Orion's voice was hoarse. "Lemira, what are you referring to?"

"I've always had a question. Why did you hide your identity to become a school doctor? Was there a special reason?"

Lemira's voice was calm as she watched him quietly.

Orion's heart felt like it was being fried in oil.

He wanted to tell her, but he didn't dare.

Their relationship had just started to mend, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing her again.

Now that he had a lead from Lemira about the car crash—that the driver might not have died—it meant the incident was far from simple.

He didn't know what other dangers were lurking in the shadows.

Orion wanted to uncover the full truth before telling her. If the crash was intentional, orchestrated by that driver from the Langston family, then maybe, just maybe, Lemira would hate him a little less when she finally knew.

Orion's lips thinned. "There were some things."

Lemira pulled her hand away, and in that instant, Orion's heart stopped.

He grew anxious. "Some things... I can't tell you right now. I..."

"Fine. I won't ask anymore."

Lemira's expression became placid in that moment, but the look in her eyes had grown distant.

Orion panicked. "Lemira, I..."

"I know. Everyone has their burdens and secrets they can't share. Your grandmother is very ill. We shouldn't do anything to upset her."

Lemira pushed his hand away. "I also have things more important than romance to deal with, and so do you. So..."

"There is no 'so.' I don't want to hear it. I'll convince my grandmother. She doesn't dislike you."

His grandmother was just worried Lemira would get hurt.
