Before Jolie could finish, Matteo slapped her hard across the face. “Shut up! Do you want everyone to know?”
The slap brought fresh tears to Jolie's eyes, but she didn't dare say another word.
Matteo straightened his tie. “I'm warning all of you, keep your mouths shut! Henrietta is my one and only girlfriend!”
Dexter scolded Jolie as well, while Pamela pinched her daughter’s lips. “Another word out of you and you'll be the death of your brother. I don’t know how I gave birth to such a fool!”
“Alright, let's go into the banquet hall,” Matteo said, composing himself. “And stop this nonsense. Henrietta is just planning a surprise for me. She'll announce the engagement later. So from now on, you all must treat her well!”
He glanced at his family as Leon approached with his son in his arms.
Pamela quickly pledged her loyalty. “Don't worry, Matteo. From now on, Henrietta will be the queen of this family! If anyone dares to treat her poorly or say a single bad word about her, I'll rip their mouth off!”
“Bro, I'll be very good to Henrietta from now on,” Jolie added meekly.
Leon chimed in, “Don't worry, we'll keep a close eye on the boy.”
Only then did Matteo nod. “Let's go.”
The banquet hall was enormous, capable of holding thousands of people. Its opulent decor, with intricately carved pillars and painted beams, left the Colemans mesmerized.
Jolie's eyes were wide with awe. “This is beautiful! People in Juno City are so extravagant. This one hall is as big as our entire town, isn't it?”
“Don't be so provincial,” Matteo snapped.
Pamela asked quietly, “Matteo, from what Henrietta said, it sounded like you didn't pay for this party?”
