When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 27

To placate Artina, Matteo could only let her assume that was the case.

Artina was skeptical. “Are you sure you’re not mistaken? Or maybe she’s lying to you? The Sargent family, one of the most prominent families in Juno City, is worth hundreds of billions! Henrietta is the Sargent heiress?”

“I went to her house to pick her up this morning,” Matteo said. “Do you think I could be mistaken?”

Artina fell silent, her heart pounding.

Matteo didn't have time to dwell on how Artina had pretended to be from a top-tier family herself. “Your family can't afford to cross the Sargents. So, Artina, be good. Behave yourself, and just listen to me.”

He tried to leave, but Artina grabbed him. “Are you lying to me? Are you saying you'll bleed her dry, but you really plan to marry her and dump me?!”

Matteo's head was throbbing. If he had known Artina was this unhinged, he never would have let her seduce him in the first place.

Now he had to calm her down again. “Of course not, don't be ridiculous. But Artina, making a scene won't help you. If you steal the Sargent heiress's fiancé, you'll be humiliating her family. The Sargents won't let your family off the hook. You could put your own family in jeopardy.”

Artina bit her lip. Finally, she said, “I understand. I won't cause any trouble.”

Matteo let out a huge sigh of relief. But then Artina wrapped her arms around his neck and tugged at his belt again. “Then I'll need you to prove you love me more! Otherwise, we can all go down in flames together!”

Matteo had no choice. To keep Artina under control, he had to give in to her sordid demands one more time.

When they came down from the rooftop, they went their separate ways. Matteo entered the banquet hall first, as the party was about to begin.

Henrietta had also entered the hall and was standing with her parents, with Winona and Charlotte by her side.
