Jolie also felt a surge of confidence. “Mom’s right! I never liked that Artina anyway. She acts all high and mighty just because her family has a little money, always ordering us around and giving us attitude. When you think about it, Henrietta is so much better. If Matteo hadn't made her angry, she’s a thousand times better than Artina!”
Pamela nodded. “Exactly! How can Artina even compare to Henrietta? She’s not worthy to shine Henrietta’s shoes! Alright, you three get back inside and get to work. Remember, you must treat Henrietta well! Even if she loses her temper and hits you, you endure it. She’s definitely just testing us!”
Matteo, Leon and Jolie nodded eagerly. Only then did Pamela leave with Dexter.
...
In the CEO's office, Winona was on the phone, ordering a name change for the company and stressing that it should be kept secret until the new sign was ready. A surprise reveal would be much more interesting.
Charlotte and Henrietta were sitting on the lounge sofa, and Charlotte was still laughing.
“Still not done gloating?” Henrietta asked as she prepared some coffee.
Charlotte clutched her stomach. “Oh my god, this is so much better than any script. They’re groveling so hard now, but when the truth comes out, they’ll realize they’ve been played for fools. I seriously can’t wait for the day their dreams come crashing down!”
Henrietta handed her a cup of coffee. “That’s what happens when people are driven by greed. If they had an ounce of integrity, they wouldn’t be so easy to manipulate.”
Winona joined them. “They were already determined to social climb. Henrietta just provided the perfect bait. Little do they know, it’s a bait they can see but never have.”
Henrietta passed a cup to Winona and took a sip from her own. “No, they probably know. They just don’t want to admit it, unwilling to let their dream die. Which is perfect. It adds a little excitement to an otherwise dull life. I’m not complaining.”
