As soon as she said it, Jolie’s eyes widened in disbelief and joy. Tears instantly welled up, and she was overcome with emotion.
Even Matteo’s eyes turned red. Henrietta must be crazy in love with him! She was even willing to launch Jolie’s career!
The others remained silent. Henrietta was the one with the money; she could make a star out of whomever she wanted. Never mind Jolie, Henrietta could probably turn the security guard at the door into a celebrity if she felt like it.
Jolie was crying uncontrollably. In a burst of emotion, she shot up from her seat, rushed over to Henrietta, and dropped to her knees with a thud. It was a textbook display of shameless sycophancy.
“Henrietta, thank you!” Jolie sobbed. “I’ll work hard, I promise I won’t let you down. I’ll make so much money for the company!”
Henrietta turned her cool gaze on her. This was the same woman who, just a few days ago, not knowing her identity, had screamed at her, accusing her of faking being rich to seduce men.
“Business is business, personal is personal,” Henrietta said. “I’ll have someone arrange this and set you up with a team. But watch how you address me.”
“Yes, yes, look at me, I got carried away…” Jolie wiped her tears. Before she could finish, Henrietta flicked her fingers. “Go back to your seat.”
“Yes, of course.” Jolie stood up and bowed to Henrietta. “Thank you, Ms. Sargent!” She walked back to her seat, practically skipping with joy.
Henrietta watched her, a slow smile spreading across her lips. If Jolie was so eager to dig her own grave, she wasn't about to stop her. In fact, she would gladly hand her the shovel.
Matteo had been staring at Henrietta the whole time. When he saw her smile—a truly beautiful smile—he was momentarily mesmerized, completely captivated.
When he came to his senses, he felt an overwhelming sense of relief, gratitude, and pride. The depth of Henrietta’s love for him was truly something to behold! She loved him so, so much! She was smiling because she was launching Jolie's career, and it was such a beautiful smile! It meant that doing things for him made her happy.
“Anything else to report?” Henrietta asked.
