The entire Nash family existed on a plane of legend, a dynasty to be admired from afar! So that was the real reason she dumped Matteo?
No, that couldn’t be right. If Henrietta wanted to climb that ladder, she would have done it years ago. She wouldn’t have dated Matteo for years only to break up with him on their engagement day. Given Henrietta’s family background, if she were to enter an arranged marriage, any potential suitor would be leagues above Matteo. That was to be expected.
But if it was Yosef Nash… That was infuriating!
Henrietta hung up the phone. “Anything else?”
Artina snapped back to reality, unaware that her gaze was filled with a toxic mix of envy, jealousy, and resentment.
How was it fair? Henrietta had the looks and the family fortune. If she also married Yosef, she would be unstoppable!
Seething, Artina asked, “Are you planning an arranged marriage with Mr. Nash?”
Henrietta raised an eyebrow. “What? Jealous?”
The two words left Artina speechless and blushing. Her anger flared again. “So, you dumped Matteo because you’re marrying into the Nash family?!”
Henrietta found her outrage amusing. It seemed this young woman was simply consumed by jealousy, unable to stand seeing someone more successful than herself.
“What’s it to you?” Henrietta retorted. “Are you planning a career change to gossip columnist?”
Artina gritted her teeth. “I just feel it’s unfair to Matteo!”
Henrietta laughed. “You’re really sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. If you feel so sorry for him, go comfort him. Why are you yelling at me? What’s wrong? Mad you couldn't land a Nash yourself, Ms. Harmon?”
“You! That’s not it!” Artina sputtered. “Matteo was so good to you…”
