When Two Winters Met (Henrietta and Yosef) novel Chapter 72

Matteo was so furious he nearly fainted. A volatile mix of anger and self-pity brought tears to his eyes. In the end, he could only lower his trembling hand, though he couldn't suppress his rage. "Fine. Just fine. I hope you don't regret this!"

Henrietta tossed the tissue into the trash bin. "I'm not the one who will have regrets. Now, get out."

Matteo's fists clenched and unclenched, his eyes red-rimmed. With no other option, he turned and left.

Henrietta watched his retreating back with icy eyes, then took a sip of her coffee. "What an actor you are, Matteo. So willing to bend when it suits you. But did you really think you could outplay me in Juno City?"

Her words stopped Matteo at the door. He turned, frowning. "What are you talking about?"

Henrietta scoffed. "You claimed you were going to prove your sincerity, yet you stormed into my office this morning screaming at me."

Matteo’s temper was completely extinguished by her commanding presence. He knew he was powerless here. In Juno City, he owed his entire career—his fame, his awards—to her. He had no choice but to grovel.

"I'm sorry," he said, taking a deep breath. "I was just… Never mind. I'm heading to the set." He opened the door and walked out.

Henrietta smirked and continued drinking her coffee. She was going to make him grovel and beg, and in the end, he would get nothing. He would be humiliated, trampled under her feet every time he dared to face her. This was only the beginning, and he was already losing his composure.

She took a small USB drive from her purse and tossed it onto the desk. It was amazing how ugly the human heart could become. “Matteo, when did you start looking at me with nothing but disgust and calculation?” she wondered. “Now that you're forced to come crawling back to me despite your loathing, how does that feel? I hope you're enjoying the game.”

...

Once outside the office, Matteo's anger began to fade, replaced by frustration. He had meant to give Henrietta a credit card today but had completely forgotten in his rage.
