Who’s the Dog Now? novel Chapter 212

"He didn't want anything..." Naomi said evasively. Remembering the real reason, she added, "Oh, right. That bug you were all stressing about? The boss said it's an easter egg."

With that, she turned on her computer and got back to work.

She left a group of stunned colleagues in her wake.

"It was an easter egg?"

"Ah! It was an easter egg! I knew it! No wonder nothing we tried could fix the bug!"

"You guys are something else. Was it so hard to just call and ask the boss? So stubborn, all of you, suffering in silence!"

The office filled with lively chatter and playful jabs. Outside, the night had fallen, dark and lonely, but inside, the atmosphere was warm and bustling.

Though Naomi was focused on her work, a small smile played on her lips.

She loved this kind of environment.

She really did.

...

Mr. and Mrs. Gonzalez still couldn't get in touch with Naomi—or rather, she was unilaterally ignoring their messages.

After numerous unanswered calls, Mrs. Gonzalez finally realized her daughter was truly angry.

She couldn't help but reflect. "Have we been too hard on Naomi? She's already done so well. After what happened, she must have been terrified. As her parents, we should be treating her better."

Mr. Gonzalez frowned. "Aren't we good enough to her?"

"'To spoil a child is to destroy their future.' You need to stop being so soft. Naomi may be a girl, but she's going to inherit the Gonzalez Group one day. If you raise her to be weak and easily bullied, who will take over the family business?"

Recalling the increasingly cold look in Naomi's eyes, Mrs. Gonzalez frowned. "But she'll lose faith in us. We let her down. Our daughter was the one who was wronged this time."

"And didn't we stand up for her?" Mr. Gonzalez retorted.

He loved his daughter, but he felt Naomi had been immature in this matter.
