Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 127

The moment Liliana stepped through the front gate with her suitcase, she saw Cedric's tall figure standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Through the glass, his sharp, hawk-like gaze fixed on her. He looked like a predator in the night, his eyes glinting with a dangerous light.

Nearly two hours had passed since he sent the message. For Liliana, those two hours had been pure agony. For Cedric, the fire in his chest had grown hotter with every passing minute.

"Mrs. Forrest. So you decided to come back after all."

A cigarette was wedged between his fingers. The ashtray beside him was overflowing with butts, piled so high it looked like a porcupine.

Liliana set down her suitcase, changed into her slippers, and walked toward him. "Did you have me followed?"

Cedric let out a sharp laugh. "You're not important enough for me to waste that kind of effort on."

If not him, then who had sent him the photos? Sylvia's face flashed in Liliana's mind. "Then who sent them to you?"

"What, couldn't come up with a convincing lie on the way here? Decided to turn the tables and question me instead?" His face was dark. This wasn't the time to argue about the source of the photos. The cigarette burned slowly between his fingers, a long cylinder of ash building at its tip. The smoke swirled around him, but it couldn't conceal the fury that radiated from him, striking her like a physical blow.

"It wasn't just me and Douglas. There was also—" Liliana began to explain. But when her eyes met his—a storm of rage, disdain, and mockery—her throat tightened, and the words died on her lips.

Cedric felt a surge of raw fury, the kind a man feels when he suspects his wife is with another man. He lunged forward, his hand clamping around her slender, pale neck. His lips were so close they almost brushed against her cheek.

"You spend your nights under me, then sneak off to have dinner with another man. Don't you feel disgusted with yourself, Liliana?"

His words were like daggers to her heart. The woman he described was disgusting. But the woman he described wasn't real. He wasn't giving her a chance to explain.

"Liliana, are you home yet?" It was Juniper's voice. "We just got back!"

It wasn't Douglas, but Juniper's words were proof enough that she hadn't been alone with him.

"I'm home," Liliana managed, her voice trembling slightly. "It's getting late. You two should get some rest."

Juniper didn't seem to notice anything amiss. "Okay, you too!"

After the call ended, Liliana looked up at Cedric. "Junie was there tonight. It wasn't just me and Douglas."

Her explanation did nothing to quell his anger. He released her, turned, and sank onto the sofa, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "If it was all so aboveboard, why did you have to meet him on the next street over? Why did you have to lie to me about working late?"
