Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 14

The faint, familiar scent of Cedric's cologne hung in the air, triggering an unwelcome memory of their nights together, of his strong hands on her waist, the scent of his skin filling her senses. It was only in those moments that she ever felt close to him.

The office was empty.

A hollow feeling opened up in her chest.

Was he really that busy, or was he avoiding her?

She hadn't wanted to see him, but the reality of his absence was a fresh, unexpected pang of disappointment.

She walked to his large desk and placed the container and file on its polished surface. Her eyes were drawn to a suit jacket slung over the back of his chair, one sleeve dangling near the floor. It was wrinkled and smelled faintly of smoke. Cedric was meticulous about his appearance; normally, he would have had Timothy fetch a fresh change of clothes. Her job had been to ensure his wardrobe was always perfectly pressed and ready.

Before she could even think about it, her hands reached out and picked up the jacket. It was pure instinct, the ingrained habit of a wife.

She was on the verge of putting it back, frustrated with herself, when suddenly the office door swung open.

It was Sylvia. She wore a black silk blouse, unbuttoned just enough to reveal a hint of cleavage, and a short skirt that showed off her long, stocking-clad legs. She was the perfect combination of sexy and professional—the kind of woman no man could ignore.

"Who let you in here?" Sylvia demanded, her tone sharp as she snatched the jacket from Liliana's hands. Her eyes fell on the items on the desk. "Are you one of the Forrests' staff?"

Liliana was tall, but Sylvia's heels made them eye to eye.

Liliana pointed to the file. "I was told to deliver this to Cedric personally."

"You can give it to me," Sylvia said, her eyes now openly hostile.

This was not the demure, charming woman from the restaurant. Here, in Cedric's office, she was the one in charge.

The truth hit home for Liliana, the real Mrs. Forrest, and it was a bitter pill to swallow.

She walked toward Sylvia.
