The sender was listed as: Miss Preston.
In an instant, Cedric knew what was inside. His eyes turned icy cold.
"Cedric, is that…" Sylvia began, still seated on the sofa, feigning casual concern.
"You can go now," Cedric cut her off. His tone was colder than she had ever heard it.
Sylvia's face stiffened, embarrassed to be dismissed in front of Timothy. But she quickly composed herself and stood up gracefully. "Of course. I'll let you get back to it."
After she left, the air in the office grew heavy. Timothy felt a suffocating pressure; he, too, guessed what was in the envelope, but he couldn't bring himself to believe it. Was Mrs. Forrest really divorcing the boss?
Cedric tore open the envelope and pulled out the document. The words 'Divorce Agreement' stared back at him. He tossed it onto the desk and walked over to the balcony to smoke. Frustration, anger, and a dozen other negative emotions washed over him, all of them brought on by Liliana.
"Mr. Forrest," Timothy began, knowing it was a bad time but needing to report on the day's schedule. "There's a lunch meeting today. The plan was to introduce Mr. Preston to the CEO of Evergrand Enterprises."
Cedric's schedule was planned at least a week in advance. At the time, he and Liliana hadn't reached this breaking point. But now—
Cedric remained silent.
He refused to believe Liliana would dare do anything truly unforgivable. She was just having a moment of foolishness, listening to Chuck and using divorce as a threat. On that point, he was absolutely confident. After all, the Liliana he knew had spent two years being nothing but accommodating and submissive.
There was no need to spy on her. He had to learn to be patient and wait for her to break. She would come back on her own. He wouldn't make the same mistake of offering her an easy way out like last time.
Timothy hesitated, but ultimately decided it was better not to get involved. Mrs. Forrest probably wouldn't last long at Cyan anyway. What could she possibly accomplish in a few days? As for the photo of her and Douglas, it was most likely a misunderstanding.
"Yes, sir." He picked up the file and dropped it into the trash.
Cedric stood by the window, a cigarette held between two long fingers, burning slowly until a long column of ash formed. The nicotine did little to calm the storm inside him.
