Wife You Discarded is a Billionaire's Crush novel Chapter 90

Her every word was laced with heartbreak and pain. But the man before her remained unmoved, as if her suffering was simply a part of her wifely duties.

"It's just a house. Do I need your permission to decide what to do with it? So that's what this is about. You want to be in control, to have me report my every move to you?" Cedric didn't believe a word of it. This was just an excuse to cover up her affair with Douglas. She was trying to pin the blame on him.

Liliana's eyes widened in disbelief. She hated how his words could still wound her so deeply. They were already heading for divorce; soon they would be strangers. She shouldn't let it hurt her anymore. But she had to make her position clear.

"Cedric, I know my station is low. For two years, I haven't earned a single penny for this family. But I put you first in everything. I never said 'no' to you. That was because I loved you, and because you needed a wife to manage your home. It was never because I needed a man to support me! I was willing to become a housewife for you, not because that's all I'm good for!"

Liliana had imagined countless times coming to this house with Cedric. They would bask in the sun in the living room, sipping tea. The study had a double desk, so she could read beside him while he worked. In their bedroom, she had placed a sofa at the foot of the bed because she knew he liked to sit there at night. She had tried to accommodate him in every way.

But none of it would ever be used. The first time they came to their marital home together, they were in this home theater—a room she had envisioned for countless anniversary surprises—discussing their divorce.

*Click.* The lights in the theater suddenly switched on. Liliana squeezed her eyes shut against the sudden brightness. When she opened them, Sylvia was standing at the other entrance.

Sylvia walked toward them, her expression grave. "Cedric… are you married to Designer Preston? I saw her in your office once, but I thought she was one of the Forrest family's staff. Why didn't you tell me?"

"There was nothing to tell," Cedric replied, his voice cold. Liliana's accusations hadn't fazed him. He and Sylvia were innocent; nothing had happened between them. Her dramatic speech was just that—a speech.

Liliana felt sick. This two-faced version of Sylvia was beyond anything she could have imagined. "There's no need to explain. I wish you two a lifetime of happiness."

She pulled the door open and walked out. It was better this way, with their tangled, hidden relationship finally out in the open. Whatever Cedric and Sylvia decided to do next, she figured this time, Cedric would have no reason to refuse the divorce.

Tomorrow, she would personally deliver a new set of divorce papers to Zephyr Group.

"Cedric, go after her! Go and explain things to her…" Sylvia held the closing door open, gently pushing him out.
