ROMAN
The only reason why I haven’t headed to my office yet is that I’m still making some calls.
For starters, I wanted my secretary to call Sebastian’s office and find out exactly where he is. I think he and I need to have a little chat. I don’t care if Nikki thinks that guys her friend-he’s not.
I can’t stand the thought of her having lunch with someone who is clearly interested in her. I don’t trust Sebastian’s intentions, so I’m going to do what any man in my position will do.
Warn him to stay the hell away from my girl.
“He’s not in, Mr. Hayes, and his secretary has no idea when he’ll show up.”
I let out a sigh before hanging up. I’m just about to start the car when I see him standing near the entrance with his phone pressed to his ear.
Seeing him here pisses me the fuck off. I’m stepping out of the car before I can convince myself that this is even a good idea. As I approach him, Sebastian must sense something because he looks up and his gaze becomes unwavering.
It pleases me to see that he’s pissed off that I’m here, too.”TIl call you back,” he says to whoever it is on the other end of the line before hanging up.
I stop right in front of him, not leaving much space between us on purpose.
“What can I do for you, Roman?” he asks tightly.
“I’m glad you asked that question,” I retort before lowering my voice. “Because there is something you can do for me.”
“I’m all ears.”
“Stay the fuck away from my wife,” I say as calmly as I can muster, considering what I really want to do is punch him in the face. “I don’t want you going out to lunch with her or hanging around her. Got it?”
Sebastian smiles, and I see his good boy mask slip just a little. I don’t know how I ever thought that he was a good guy. He fooled me once upon a time too, but not anymore.
“Isn’t the choice up to her, whether or not she wants to see me?”
“It’s a fair warning. Do what you want with it.”
As soon as I turn my back to him, he says, “She’s your wife, allegedly, and yet you’re here warning me to stay away from her. Is that your way of telling me that you consider me competition?”
I stop dead in my tracks and turn around to face him again. He has a grin on his face that makes me want topound his face in.
“We both know that’s not the case. I can’t be around her all the time, protecting her from the likes of you. So, I’m telling you to back the fuck off right now. I won’t have this conversation with you again. Do with that as you will.”
“You might be confident that you’ve managed to trick her into marrying you, but we both know that you’re not good enough for her, and it’s only a matter of time before you do something big enough to turn her away. Who knows?
Maybe you’ll get someone else pregnant. Or maybe you’ll finally give in to your nature and cheat. You can’t seem to keep your dick in your pants for five-”
lose my temper, and maybe this isn’t one of my best moments, but Sebastian was asking for it. I swing and swing, not feeling an ounce of pain even though I know he’s hitting me back. All around us, chaos ensues, but I’m not thinking straight. I don’t care that people are watching and this will be talked about.
I just want to show this cunt that he can’t say the things he said and get away with them.
Guards rush toward us, coming from all directions. Before we detach, Sebastian says through his blood-coated teeth, “You can fight all you want, but we both know how this ends. I’ll have her, Roman, even if it’s the last thing I do.”
I scoff, narrowing my eyes at him and wishing l’d landed more punches on his mouth. “There goes your good guy facade.”
