MONALISA
We had been going round for a few minutes. The place had only dignitaries in it. Everyone I saw had this elegance to them. They looked expensive and classy but I was looking nothing short of that too.
I fitted in just well with the designers I was wearing and with Lucius holding my waist. I was a little bit nervous and awkward. What would people say abou him holding my waist? It betrayed the image of us we were supposed to put up in front of others, right?
But I could not say no. I kinda liked it. No, I did like this too.
But I knew I would have to pull away from him once mum got here. I could no leet her see us like this. Everything was going smoothly until this lady walked up to us. She was dressed in a lon g, black dress and she had dark red lipstick on. Her very dark hair was down to her waist and she had a glass of wine in her hand.
“Happy birthday sir” She greeted Lucius.
‘sir’.
That meant they had a professional relationship, right?
“Thanks, Bella” Lucius replied and her gaze fell on me. She gave me a smile.
“Boss, pardon my inquisitiveness but is she…” She trailed off.
“She is” Lucius replied and I looked up at him.
“Oh, she is very beautiful” She complimented, her gaze resting on me once more.
“Thank you. You look stunning too” I spoke up.
“Really? Thank you. If you think so, then this dress would work just right tonight, ma’am” She said and I was a bit puzzled by her words.
“That’s enough, Bella. Don’t disturb my woman”
My heart skipped beats. What was going on in the head of this man?
“Yes boss. My apologies ma’am” She apologized to me.
“Ma’am, though? I am just a college student. I am young and I hold no title to be called ma’am too”
Lucius turned me so I was facing him. Heck, how could one be so handsome?
“You have no idea what title you hold, Cupcake” His thumb caressed my cheek lightly and then he pulled away from me.
“I will be back. Give me a second, okay?”
“Okay” I mumbled and he gave me a small smile that vanished as soon as he looked away from my face.
He looked over at some suited men standing at the far end of the place as if telling them to keep an eye on me.
He walked away with Bella and I watched them until they were out of my sight. A small pout was on my face as I watched them leave. I didn’t feel too good about the fact that Lucius left me and went with Bella.
Even though their relationship had seemed really formal and Bella had seemed to be a nice lady who was working for him, I still could not shake it off. She was a woman and he was a man.
“Damnit, what are you thinking about, Lisa?” I questioned myself, stopping a waiter and grabbing a glass of wine. One or two glass of wine would not be bad for the night.
I busied myself by walking around the place for a few minutes and sipping wine every now and then. With every passing second, I could not stop thinking about what Lucius was still doing with Bella.
Hell! Was this jealousy? It seemed like so.
My heart thumped wildly at that realization and a blush reddened my cheek.
“Why would you be… Why would i be jealous?” I whispered the words to myself.
But Lucius was like this when Leon had approached us the other time, right? He had been jealous and so it was okay for me to be jealous also, right?
This feeling, this jealousy was increasing by the second. I wanted to go find Lucius and grab him to myself. I wanted to pull him right to the middle of everyone here and tell them that all his time and attention was for me. I wanted to yell at the women that their flirty smiles couldn’t take him away. 2
