A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 338

Darleen wanted a motive? It was easy enough to invent one with a few words. That's exactly what they did to her. And now, Starla was more than capable of returning the favor.

Darleen felt her vision go black with rage. Just then, her phone rang again. Her hand trembled as she answered. “What is it now?”

“What? Heron Estate is on fire too? What in the world is wrong with you people?” Darleen shrieked into the phone.

She had barely hung up when another call came through. And another. And another. One, two, three, four calls in a row, each one reporting a fire at a different property. Some were in her name, some in Xenia’s, and even some belonging to Fairfax.

Darleen felt her world collapsing around her. She no longer had the energy to confront Starla. She just turned and stumbled out of the house.

Watching her unsteady retreat, a tight knot of anger in Starla’s chest finally began to loosen. Years ago, Darleen had demolished a building without any regard for the lives inside. Now, Starla would destroy every building she owned.

“Garret,” Starla said softly.

“Yes, Miss?”

“Inform all the local hotels and restaurants. They are not to serve them.”

Garret nodded. “Understood.”

Starla was cutting off all their escape routes. She would trap the self-proclaimed nobles of the Yelchin family in their own gilded cage and make them suffer.

Brinley had cost her two unborn babies. Darleen had a hand in her mother’s death. For both crimes, Starla would ensure they lost everything and never knew a moment of peace again.

Sensing Brinley’s hesitation, Xenia realized her mistake. “I’m sorry, Brinley. This is all our fault. I’m calling Fairfax right now. I’ll make him come back and deal with that bitch!”

If Starla was claiming she had the right to live here because they weren't divorced, then Fairfax had every right to control her, didn’t he?

Xenia had just picked up her phone when a call came through. She answered it. “Hello?”

“Miss, your villa at Azure Haven is on fire.”

“What?” Xenia cried out in shock.

Azure Haven, the house Fairfax had once given to Starla, the one her mother had taken back and given to her. It had been sitting empty, and she was planning to redecorate it soon. How could it possibly be on fire?
