A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 413

Five minutes later, Xenia stood before Herbert in his office. He was dressed in a tailored suit, and even sitting there, reading a document, he exuded an intimidating aura.

Xenia swallowed nervously as she approached his desk and met his deep, terrifying gaze.

Though she had grown up in the Yelchin family and seen all sorts of powerful people, she found herself unnerved by the chilling intensity in Herbert's eyes.

She swallowed again. "Today, I overheard Starla on the phone with a man from Yoran Country! She said that once things in Marina City are settled, she's going back there. Do you know what that means?"

Herbert's eyes narrowed slightly. "What does it mean?"

"It means she's a bitch!" Xenia spat. "She deceived you, used you to deal with my family! She's a tramp, she doesn't actually like you!"

But as she hurled insults at Starla, Herbert's expression became glacial. Xenia noticed the change, but she misinterpreted it, assuming his anger was directed at Starla's betrayal. A wave of glee washed over her.

"That bitch is using you while hooking up with her lover from Yoran Country, and she won't even divorce my brother Fairfax," she continued triumphantly. "She wants to have it all! Are you still going to help her, to protect her?"

Herbert remained silent, his eyes growing colder, more dangerous.

Xenia's confidence surged. See? All men wanted a loyal woman. The only reason Fairfax hadn't let go of Starla was because he hadn't known about her sordid affairs. Now that she was entangled with Herbert, Fairfax wanted a divorce. And Herbert, after hearing this news, wouldn't just stop protecting that bitch—he would tear her to shreds!
