Gabriel entered with a grim expression, carrying a folder. The sight of his face alone was enough to annoy Fairfax.
"More trouble?" he asked wearily.
Morale at the Yelchin Group was at an all-time low, with rumors of impending bankruptcy swirling through the halls. A look like the one on Gabriel’s face never meant good news.
Gabriel sighed heavily. "It's Hoggart Group again."
"Again?" Fairfax repeated, his eyes darkening. He took a long, hard drag from his cigarette.
They had already been pulling all-nighters for days because of it, and every department was simmering with resentment.
"A vice president from Hoggart Group is coming to Marina City," Gabriel continued.
"Who?" The mention of a Hoggart executive immediately sharpened Fairfax's focus.
"Kael."
The name conjured an image of a strikingly handsome, almost ethereal face. Kael had trained as a dancer, yet he possessed a brilliant mind for business. The Hoggart Group had discovered him by chance, and he had been with them ever since. Though he was in his early fifties, he wore his age well, a testament to the idea that time couldn't tarnish true beauty. A man that beautiful… Fairfax's eyes narrowed.
