Herbert sat up straight, his long, well-defined fingers interlocked. Instead of answering her question, he changed the subject. "Or I could have Rudolf deliver it to Life-Source Biotechnology. You seem to be spending a lot of time there lately."

Starla was stunned into silence. He knew about her biotech company, too? Not even Caden knew about that. She had been so careful to hide it from Fairfax's circle, especially with Brinley's lunatic mother lurking about. The research was at a critical stage, and she couldn't afford to have her trump card exposed.

She stared at Herbert in shock.

"Which one?" he asked, his tone still serious, giving nothing away.

Starla straightened up and said quietly, "Send it to the studio."

Herbert wouldn't tell her why he was helping, but if it was evidence against Brinley, she was more than happy to take it.

She had him drop her off at Maple Heights. As she got out of the car, she hesitated and then said, "Thank you."

From inside the car, Herbert simply gave her a deep look and a slight nod.

Just as she was about to close the door, she added, "I tried to explain to Fairfax that there's nothing between us, but he won't believe me. About this, I…"

"There's no need to explain."

"Right away."

Garret arrived quickly. He showed her several photos on his phone of Brinley on the hospital rooftop, threatening to jump.

Starla let out a cold laugh. "Change tomorrow's release. Just send out my surgical consent form from the hospital."

The form she had signed all by herself.

So Brinley thought she could play the victim and win back public sympathy in Marina City?

Fine. Starla would use an even more pitiful story to shatter her pathetic scheme.
