After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 121

“A woman who marries into the Adams family is supposed to stay home, look after her husband, and have children. And you need to have sons, as soon as possible,” Jennifer said, her voice sharp and insistent.

The message was obvious—she wanted to pressure Isabella.

Isabella answered calmly, her tone almost chilly. “Mrs. Adams, everyone has their own way of living. If you enjoy staying at home and raising kids, that’s your choice. I don’t, and you can’t make me follow your path.”

“It doesn’t matter what my title is, what I do is up to me.”

“Ethan supports me. He’s even the one who gave me the money to start my business. As long as my husband has my back, that’s all I need. I’m not asking you for anything, so whether or not you approve doesn’t really matter.”

Jennifer snapped, “With that attitude, don’t expect me to ever accept you.”

But Isabella just shrugged. “It doesn’t make any difference to me whether you accept me or not.”

“If you accept me, I’m your daughter-in-law. If you don’t, I’m still your daughter-in-law. Ethan’s the one who married me. If you were so against it, you should have put your foot down from the start.”

“You could talk to Ethan now and tell him to divorce me. I’m not scared. If he wants a divorce, I’ll sign the papers without hesitation.”

If Ethan ever suggested divorce, she would go along with it right away. If he didn’t bring it up, she’d wait until she was independent, then ask for one herself.

A marriage without love or intimacy wasn’t something she wanted. If someone else wanted that, they could have it.
