After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 134

After he ended the call with Isabella, Ethan dialed Natalie right away. “Natalie, Isabella says she’s really busy right now. You know how caught up she’s been with her new investments. She just can’t find the time to go shopping with you.”

“Maybe you could ask one of your girlfriends. I’m sure they’d be up for it.”

The three of them had grown up together, so Ethan knew Natalie had two close friends, both from wealthy families in the city.

“Oh. Okay, I get it.”

Natalie felt a wave of frustration. The first time she’d tried to use Ethan as her messenger, it had totally flopped. She couldn’t help but feel like he was taking Isabella’s side.

“Natalie, when we were at the beach, you mentioned you might be pregnant. Is that true?” Ethan asked, his voice gentle and concerned. “If you are, it’s really important to rest, especially at the start. Early pregnancy is delicate. You should have someone bring you whatever you need. It’s better not to go out shopping yourself.”

“There are so many people out there. What if someone bumps into you? You and the baby could get hurt.”

“Jordan’s been looking forward to this baby for so long.”

Natalie hadn’t gone to the hospital yet, so she didn’t know for sure if she was pregnant. Her period still hadn’t come, though. Jordan seemed convinced, and lately he’d been so sweet, holding her in his arms every night.

“I haven’t had a checkup yet, so I can’t say for sure,” Natalie answered honestly. “I just wanted to walk around the shopping street for a bit. I wasn’t going to go far. I’ll be fine.”

“Since Isabella’s busy, I’ll just call my girlfriends. Thanks, Ethan.”

“No problem. I needed a break anyway.”

Natalie’s tone softened. “Take care of yourself, okay? If your cold isn’t better, you should rest. Money will always be there, but your health is what matters.”

Her words melted some of the tension from Ethan’s face, and a faint warmth crept into his heart.
