“Ethan, did you hear that? You made Isabella lose two hundred million. You need to pay her back.”
Ethan groaned, “Grandma, how can you take Isabella’s side like this? She tried to sell me for two hundred million, failed, and now I’m supposed to just hand her the money anyway?”
Stephanie just laughed, the kind of laugh that filled the whole room. When she finally stopped, she reached out and grabbed Ethan’s ear, making him yelp.
“Grandma, not so hard, please! You’re about to tear my ear off.”
“You little brat,” she scolded, still holding on tight. “Just because I don’t meddle in everything these days doesn’t mean I don’t know what’s going on. I stayed quiet because you’re thirty now, not a kid. I figured you could handle your own messes.”
She let go of his ear and pointed at him. “But look at this mess. You’ve let Isabella down over and over, so much that she’s asked for a divorce more than once.”
“And about your crush on that Gates family girl—why didn’t you fight for her back then? Why just give up to that Lane boy? If you didn’t even try, you should stop hiding those feelings and just move on.”
“When you were single, I didn’t care who you liked. But you’re married now, and still thinking about Jordan’s wife? You’re just hurting yourself and everyone else. Jordan will never see you as anything but a problem.”
Ethan was so busy trying to rescue his ear that he nearly missed what Grandma was saying. When her words finally sank in, he froze.
Even Isabella was shocked. Stephanie hardly ever left the estate, but somehow, she knew everything.
“You got married and then decided to be faithful to Natalie, leaving Isabella stuck in a lonely marriage. If you want to play the martyr, you can do it alone for the rest of your life. Tomorrow, you’re taking Isabella to file for divorce.”
“Grandma!” Ethan’s voice cracked.
