After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 49

The girls looked at each other, not saying a word. The only thing they’d brought were those party pills meant to spice things up between men and women. Honestly, they’d been hoping for a chance to set Ethan up. If they were anywhere else, they would have gladly slipped something into Isabella Lane’s drink. Just imagining her caught with another man was enough. If Isabella cheated, Ethan would definitely divorce her. But in Ethan’s own house, none of them dared to go that far.

Sophia rolled her eyes at them. “Seriously? None of you thought to bring some laxatives at least?”

The girls just gave awkward little laughs.

Sophia sent Olivia to the kitchen to get some salt, then dumped a generous amount into Isabella Lane’s half-full glass of water. After that, she grabbed Isabella’s bag and started digging through it. All she found were car keys, a couple packs of tissues, and some snacks. No makeup at all. Of course, Isabella never wore any. She always showed up bare-faced, and even like that, her looks turned heads. She was just naturally beautiful, the kind that made other girls green with envy.

There was nothing valuable in the bag, either. The bag itself looked cheap, probably an online buy that cost a couple hundred at most. Sophia decided it wasn’t even worth the trouble to mess it up and just tossed it aside.

She stood up and started to leave.

“Sophia, where are you going?” Olivia and the others asked quickly.

“To find Ethan.” Sophia wasn’t about to let Isabella have him to herself. She wanted her friends to come along and stir things up. The truth was, it wasn’t like she wanted one of them to marry her brother. She just couldn’t stand Isabella. She knew the girls all had a thing for Ethan, so she brought them over just to get under Isabella’s skin.

Out in the backyard, Ethan was still sitting under the gazebo. Susan stood at the entrance. When she saw Isabella hurrying over, she turned, walked into the gazebo, and approached Ethan.

“Ethan, Isabella’s here,” she said, polite and proper.

“I know. Go on, get back to work.” Ethan didn’t even look up.
