Natalie couldn’t help but feel a little lighter. So Ethan and Isabella weren’t actually sharing a bed. They hadn’t even taken that step as a married couple. Deep down, she knew why. Ethan was doing it for her.
Being loved by two men at once... It made her feel lucky, almost spoiled. But on the outside, she put on a concerned face. “Isabella, you and Ethan are married. This isn’t some whirlwind thing. You’ve known each other for ages, and you get him. I bet he’s been in love with you for years, just waiting for you to grow up so he could finally tell you.”
She went on, sounding all sympathetic, “But why are you still in separate rooms? That’s not how it’s supposed to be. Was this Ethan’s idea? I’ll talk to him in private. He can’t just leave you alone every night.”
Before Isabella could say anything, Natalie kept going. “You two should be together soon, you know? Start a family, maybe have a son. That’s how you’ll really win over his family.”
Natalie was well aware that the Adams family never truly accepted Isabella. Honestly, she agreed. Isabella didn’t deserve Ethan. Only she did. He only ever loved her, after all. He was so loyal, so devoted. She honestly believed he’d never look at another woman.
If Ethan and Isabella kept sleeping apart, Isabella would never get pregnant. Sooner or later, people would start gossiping, saying Isabella was barren. The Adams family would dislike her even more. They’d probably push for a divorce.
But then a thought hit Natalie. If Ethan did divorce Isabella, his family would definitely make him marry someone of their status—a real socialite, the kind of woman who actually belonged in their world. If that happened, Natalie knew she’d lose him for good.
Suddenly, this awkward marriage seemed perfect. As long as Isabella was Ethan’s wife, but not really his partner, Natalie didn’t have to worry. People would just laugh at Isabella for being left alone, not at Ethan. But if he married someone on his level, he’d have to treat her right. That would ruin everything for Natalie.
