After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 82

She had finally given him a taste of his own medicine.

“Ethan, I’ve been way too good to you. You must think I’m easy to push around,” Isabella snapped. “Let’s get one thing straight. You’re the one who hurt me. You’re the one who made me feel small. I haven’t even called you out for it, and that’s me being generous. So don’t test your luck.”

She fixed him with a glare. “Aren’t you head over heels for Natalie Gates? Don’t you dream about her every night? What’s wrong, are you sick and trying to hide it from her? Afraid she’ll worry? Or are you more worried that Jordan Lane will find out you’re still hung up on his wife?”

Ethan stood, instantly towering over her. The air shifted, heavy with tension. He grabbed her chin and tipped her face toward his, his breath hot against her skin. He spoke slowly, his voice low. “I’m afraid of getting Natalie sick.”

Isabella just stared at him, stunned.

So that’s what this was about. He was worried he’d give his cold to Natalie.

No wonder he’d been acting like this, demanding she take care of him. Because she wasn’t the one he loved, he didn’t care if she caught his germs. She was nothing to him.

She’d always known he loved Natalie Gates. In her last life, she’d wasted three years trying to thaw his frozen heart, and it hadn’t worked. She’d sworn she wouldn’t fall for him again in this life.

But feelings don’t just vanish because you want them to. Even now, when he was so cold, she still felt the sting.

The ache in her chest wouldn’t go away.

Ethan kept holding her, watching every flicker of emotion on her face. Something in his eyes shifted, just for a second.

“Isabella…” His voice was softer now. “Natalie might be pregnant. If she gets sick, it could be serious. She can’t take medicine. You… you’ve always been healthy…”
