After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 95

Isabella had actually blocked Jordan, Natalie, and Ethan’s numbers for now. She didn’t block them on social media, though. That would be too obvious, and she wasn’t in the mood for confrontation. She just needed some quiet, some space to breathe.

She knew Natalie would call sooner or later. That woman always thought she was helping when she got involved with Ethan, but it always made things worse. Natalie wasn’t truly on her side. She only ever stirred up more trouble.

Isabella still couldn’t figure out what she had done wrong this time. Why did Ethan have her luggage thrown out? He hadn’t acted strange when she left. Then it hit her. Natalie had called, insisting she should go back to take care of Ethan. Isabella had said no. Natalie must have run to Ethan and told him something. That would explain why he suddenly snapped.

A bitter smile tugged at Isabella’s lips. In her last life, she’d already lost to Natalie. Now, it was happening again.

She’d promised herself she wouldn’t love Ethan anymore. She had to let him go. She needed to.

Turning to stare out the car window, Isabella tried to push Ethan from her mind. He didn’t love her. She was just a piece on his chessboard. She needed to remember her plan: use him to get what she wanted, then make him pay for everything he’d done.

Traffic dragged on. It took more than two hours before she finally reached Laura Charles’s apartment complex. By then, she was both hungry and thirsty, her patience worn thin.

She got out of the car and spotted Laura waiting by the gate, waving as soon as she saw her. That small gesture made something in Isabella’s chest loosen. Family was distant, her love life a mess, but at least she still had a friend.

She paid the driver, grabbed her suitcase, and hurried over.

“Isabella Lane.”

“Laura, I need a hug.” All the hurt and frustration Isabella had bottled up spilled out as she wrapped her arms around her friend.

Laura hugged her tight, then took the suitcase from her. She held Isabella’s hand, and together they walked inside.
