"What are you guys talking about?" Jeffrey quickly asked. They're talking in riddles.
The old man looked at him. "No more questions, Jeff. If Mr. Finnegan can cure me, then the story should be laid to rest, never to be spoken again."
Jeffrey heaved a sigh, and he said nothing.
Aiden stood up. "I shall prepare the necessary ingredients. Once I have finished procuring whatever I need, I shall contact you."
"Thank you, Mr. Finnegan." The old man bowed.
As Aiden emerged from the Thatcher Residence, he thought, He must have done that so his comrades could rest in peace. That battle probably sacrificed everyone but him. The sacrifice of these heroes is what keeps Wardom peaceful. We have our silent protectors watching over us. When he exited the villa, Aiden noticed Angelina's car parked outside, and he was surprised.
As Aiden and Zachary approached the exit, Angelina got out of her car.
Zachary winked at Aiden. "I have something to settle, Aiden. See you around."
Aiden nodded and stepped through the exit.
Angelina looked at Aiden, her emotions conflicting. "Are you alright?"
"Why would I not be alright?" Aiden asked, wondering why she was asking that.
Angelina paused for a moment. Hm, they were chatting happily. Probably was fine. "Get in." Angelina opened the car door.
But Aiden didn't move. He looked at Angelina. "What brings you here?"
"I was passing by, and I saw you going into their villa." Angelina got into the car.
In the end, Aiden got into the passenger seat, but none of them spoke on the way back.
Finally, Angelina broke the ice. "Why did he seek you out?"
"He needed my help with a patient," answered Aiden.
Angelina looked at Aiden in surprise. She thought Zachary came because Jeffrey's condition had worsened, but things were not as she thought.
"So, are you done with the treatment?"
Angelina froze, and she stepped on the brakes, her tires skidding to a halt, her car stopping on the empty road. She glared at Aiden furiously. I came because I was worried, and he's saying I stalked him? "You thought I was tailing you?" She looked at him coldly.
"There's no point continuing this relationship. You don't care about me, and your family thinks I'm trash. And you became the city's laughingstock because of me," said Aiden slowly.
For some reason, Angelina thought that was unfair. I came because I was worried, and he thinks I'm a stalker! And now he proposes a divorce? Angelina didn't doubt his intention to break up. He didn't sound like he was throwing a tantrum. "Very well," said Angelina, though her eyes were tearing up.
Aiden looked at her weirdly. He couldn't understand what she was thinking. If there were anyone here, they would have thought he was the one dumping her. She never cared about me, so why is she looking so sad about the divorce?
Yet her agreement to it made him heave a sigh of relief. I loved her. I really did, but it was never reciprocated. I slaved away at their home for three years, and what did I get? Nothing. Not love, not affection, not gratitude. Only disdain. Divorce is a release.
"I can agree to the divorce, but I have to make one thing clear," blurted Angelina.
Aiden sighed. "What do you want me to say? I've explained myself. Gina and I are innocent."
"It's not about her. You think too highly of yourself. Beats me why Gina would pick trash like you," snapped Angelina coldly.
Aiden frowned. He hated it whenever Angelina talked down to him. It felt like she wouldn't change her opinion of him no matter what he did. "What, then? I've given your mother the money she wanted," Aiden snapped.
Angelina looked at him. So that's all he thinks of me? He thinks I want more money? "I didn't stalk you, Aiden. I was worried that the Thatchers were coming after you because you might have botched up Jeffrey's treatment." Angelina cried. "You're not that important. I wasn't stalking you. I never cared about you. Not one bit. And you're not the one divorcing me. I'm the one divorcing you. Only I get to propose the divorce," Angelina said stubbornly.
Aiden was already calming down when he realized Angelina came because she was worried about him, but when she said the last part of her sentence, his fury came back with a vengeance. He screamed, "That's your problem! You never change!"
