Alpha Damon (Sienna) novel Chapter 311

I turned sharply as the door creaked.

Giovanni stepped in.

His shirt was half-open, the silver chains across his neck glinting in the low light. He leaned against the frame with that infuriating smirk on his face.

“I heard the walls shake, I figured to come and check on you before our building collapses. As you might know, this is still stone and cement.” he drawled. “Are you throwing tantrums now, my Queen? You are not a person that I expected to throw tantrums like this. Then again, you did break more glass than you should over the past few days.”

“Careful,” I hissed, “You’re still bound to me. And you are still under my control.”

“Mm,” he said, slowly stepping into the room, “Are you sure about that? I’m starting to think that you are overestimating yourself a little too much.”

I narrowed my eyes.

He should’ve bowed. He always did before. But this time…

He didn’t.

His mind, once so easy to control, was stiffening beneath my influence. Fading. Fighting.

“I don’t know what it is,” he said, circling the broken mirror, “but lately, when I look at you, I don’t feel like dying for you anymore. I don’t feel like I am willing to put everything that I know on pause for you. I find it easier to breathe without you by my side.”

I froze.

He smirked again. “That’s a problem, isn’t it? I’m slipping from your control and you’re not liking that, are you?”

“You can’t control what’s turning against you,” he said behind me. “Even your own creations. And it seems to me that I’m not the only one that’s turning my back on you, that’s angering you more than you want to admit.”

“Shut up,” I snapped. “You are nothing without me. All of you are nothing without me.”

“Maybe,” he said, backing away. “But soon, you’ll be nothing even with all your power. Because they’re not afraid of you anymore. And it seems to me that you’re already getting there, it’s just a matter of time. Tick tock on the clock and I’ll be watching.”

I turned sharply, mist swirling around me, but he was already walking out.

“If you want to join us in the meeting room, we have a few things to discuss. That is, of course, if you have the power to show your face. And of course, if you’re not afraid of someone killing you, mind you, don’t worry. I still need you alive.” He whispered, giving me a quick nod. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have things to take care of.”
