Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 107

(Audrey’s POV)

Arthur stared at me incredulously, and I could feel him forcing back his anger.

“You would blackmail me?” he growled, his voice dangerously low. “With this?”

I met his gaze steadily, refusing to be intimidated. “I prefer to think of it as leverage. You’ve left me no choice.”

“I could simply refuse,” he threatened, his Alpha presence filling the car with suffocating pressure. “I’m still the Alpha King. I can deny your request.”

“You could,” I agreed calmly, though my heart hammered in my chest. “But then every wolf in the North American Alliance would see exactly what your father and Victoria have been doing behind closed doors.”

His jaw clenched so tightly I thought he might crack his teeth. The muscle beneath his skin twitched with barely contained rage.

“You wouldn’t dare.”

I arched an eyebrow, my own wolf rising to the challenge. “Wouldn’t I? After everything you’ve put me through, after choosing Victoria over our unborn pups, after dismissing my concerns about Elder William’s death… do you really think I have anything left to lose?”

He studied me for a long moment, genuine surprise flashing across his features. I realized he had never seen this side of me before – the wolf who would bare her teeth rather than cower.

“Get out,” he finally snarled, turning away from me. “Get out of my car. Get out of my territory.”

“Fine,” I replied, reaching for the door handle. “I’ll be at the Pack Council Office at noon tomorrow. Have the severance papers ready or I start sending this video to every Alpha in our alliance.”

Arthur’s hand shot out, grabbing my wrist with bruising force. “You’re making a dangerous enemy, Audrey.”

I pulled my arm free, meeting his golden eyes without flinching. “I survived being your mate. I’ll survive being your enemy.”

Before he could respond, I pushed open the door and stepped out into the cold night air. I had forgotten my shawl inside in my haste to escape, but I wouldn’t go back for it now.

“Noon,” I called through the open door. “Or the video goes public.”

Arthur’s response was to slam the car door shut. The black Maybach peeled away, tires kicking up gravel as it accelerated down the road, leaving me standing alone in the darkness, arms wrapped around myself against the biting cold.

I couldn’t believe what I had just done. Grace, my wolf, trembled within me – partly from the cold, partly from the adrenaline of confronting Arthur so boldly.

I looked around, realizing I was stranded at the edge of the Snowfang territory with no transportation back to my territory house. The few cabs that serviced this remote area had all been claimed by departing guests.

“Need a ride?”

I turned to find Florian Stormhowl leaning against an elegant silver sport car, his golden eyes twinkling with amusement in the moonlight.

“I seem to have a habit of finding you in unfortunate situations tonight,” he added.

I hesitated, weighing my options. Accepting a ride from an Alpha I barely knew wasn’t ideal, but neither was waiting alone in the cold for a cab that might never come.

The wind picked up, sending a violent shiver through me. My thin dress offered little protection against the night chill.

Florian noted my discomfort and opened the passenger door of his car. “Get in before you freeze, Moonstone. I promise to deliver you safely to your door with no detours or unwanted advances.”

His directness was refreshing after Arthur’s manipulations. With another shiver wracking my body, I made my decision.

“Thank you,” I said, slipping into the warm interior of his car.

The leather seats were heated, instantly enveloping me in blessed warmth. Florian climbed into the driver’s seat and started the engine.

An uncomfortable silence stretched between us as he drove. I kept my gaze fixed on the passing landscape, uncertain what to make of this strange wolf who seemed to appear at every turning point in my recent life.

“You’re wondering if you can trust me,” he said suddenly, breaking the silence.

I turned to look at him, surprised by his perceptiveness.

“Don’t doubt me,” he continued, his voice uncharacteristically serious. “I have no malice.”

Something in his tone made me believe him, at least for now. My shoulders relaxed slightly as some of my tension eased.

“Thank you for the ride,” I said softly as we approached my territory house.

Florian merely nodded, pulling up to my front door with surprising familiarity, as though he’d been there before. Before I could question it, my phone rang – Nathan’s name flashing on the screen.

“You should take that,” Florian said, his usual playful demeanor returning. “Your admirer seems persistent.”

I frowned at his phrasing but answered the call as I stepped out of the car.

“Audrey? Are you alright?” Nathan’s worried voice came through the speaker. “I just saw your message. I’m sorry I couldn’t respond earlier – Elizabeth cornered me with some pack elders.”

“I’m fine,” I assured him, watching as Florian drove away with a casual wave. “Just got home.”

“With Arthur?” Nathan asked, a strange edge to his voice.

My wolf bristled at the implication. “No. We had a… disagreement. I found another ride.”

There was a brief pause before Nathan spoke again. “I’m sorry I couldn’t give you what I promised earlier. It’s something that belongs to you – something very important.”

“That’s what friends are for,” I replied, pouring myself coffee. “Besides, I have news that might distract you from your hangover.”

Sarah looked up, curiosity momentarily overriding her misery. “What news?”

“I’m meeting Arthur at the Pack Council Office today to finalize our mate bond severance,” I announced, still hardly believing it myself. “It’s happening today, not next month.”

Sarah’s mouth fell open in surprise. “What? How did you convince him to agree?”

I set my coffee down and pulled out my phone, my finger hesitating over the video file. “I have leverage.”

“Leverage?” Sarah repeated, intrigued.

I took a deep breath. “I caught his father and Victoria together at the Snowfang celebration.”

Sarah’s wolf eyes widened in shock. “His father and his stepsister? You mean they’re…”

I nodded grimly. “See for yourself.”

I pressed play on the video, watching Sarah’s expression shift from confusion to horror to fascination as the unmistakable sounds of Victoria and Richard’s encounter filled my kitchen.

“By the Moon Goddess,” Sarah whispered, unable to tear her eyes from the screen.

The video ended, and Sarah sat back in her chair, stunned. “And you’re using this to force Arthur to finalize the severance?”

“It worked,” I confirmed. “I’m meeting him at two today.”

With shaking fingers, I picked up my phone and called Arthur to confirm our meeting. There was a long pause after he answered, followed by a deafening crash that sounded like a phone being smashed against something hard. The line went dead.

I stared at my phone in shock, wondering if I’d pushed him too far. A minute later, my phone rang again. Daniel Hayes’ name appeared on the screen.

“Luna,” his professional voice greeted me. “The Alpha confirms your meeting at the Pack Council Office at two p. m. today.”

His tone gave nothing away about Arthur’s apparent outburst. “I’ll be there to escort you.”

After hanging up, I sat in silence, a strange sense of unreality washing over me. This was actually happening. By sunset, I would no longer be Luna of the Moonstone Pack. No longer Arthur’s mate.

Grace, my wolf, paced anxiously within me, both frightened and hopeful about our impending freedom.
