Alpha’s Regret After His Pregnant Luna Left novel Chapter 13

(Audrey’s POV)

Arthur’s words echoed in my head, razor-sharp and unforgiving. “Is this about Nathan Snowfang? Are you severing our bond because of him?”

For a moment, I stood frozen, staring at him. I couldn’t even process the sheer gall, the audacity of such an accusation.

Nathan? Nathan Snowfang?

My chest tightened as disbelief turned into fury, and Grace howled within me, her anger mirroring my own. My hand lifted before I could stop it, and the crack of my palm meeting his face echoed in the room.

Arthur’s head barely moved from the impact, but his expression shifted. Shock. Anger. Something I couldn’t quite name flickered in his dark eyes.

“How dare you?” My voice was shaking, a mixture of rage and heartbreak, but I refused to look away.

“Audrey-”

“No!” My voice grew louder, cutting him off. My hand trembled as I pointed at him, every word spilling out like a long-buried wound tearing open. “Do you think I sat through three years of this… this hell, just to run to another man? Did you think I endured every ounce of your betrayal, your dismissiveness, your choices – for someone else?”

Arthur opened his mouth to speak, but I didn’t let him.

“I was devoted to you, Arthur.” My throat tightened, grief mingling with my fury. “Even when you weren’t. Even when you abandoned me for Victoria time and time again. Even when you let her invade every corner of our lives!”

Tears blurred my vision, but I couldn’t stop myself. “And now you accuse me of this? After everything I’ve endured. After everything I’ve given you? I gave you my heart! I gave you my loyalty! And you… you-” My voice broke as a bitter laugh escaped me.

Arthur took a step forward, his expression unreadable now. “Audrey, I-”

I held up my hand, stopping him in his tracks. “Don’t.” My eyes narrowed, my voice dropping to an icy tone. “Don’t say a word. Whatever you think you know about me, you don’t. If you even had an ounce of understanding, you’d know how absurd this accusation is.”

The room felt suffocating, every breath labored as the tension thickened. Grace growled inside, urging me to fight, to lash out, but I took a step back instead.

“For three years, I loved you,” I said softly now, shaking my head with a mix of despair and disgust. “Three years, I stood by you, fighting for us. But you… you think so little of me.”

Arthur’s expression remained tense, his jaw tight. For a moment, he looked as if he would reach out to me. But then, like always, he hesitated.

It hit me then, harder than any previous heartbreak: He didn’t truly see me.

He’d never seen me.

I laughed again, the sound hollow and bitter. And as tears continued to stream silently down my face, I turned away from him.

I could hear him say something behind me, something meant to soothe, to explain. But it was too late. I was done listening.

(Sarah’s POV)

I stepped into the Moonstone Pack mansion, Lucas trailing uncertainly behind me. The tension in the air was almost suffocating.

From the moment I walked into their living quarters, my gaze locked onto Audrey. Her back was stiff as she stood near the door, her suitcase at her feet. Her face was flushed, tears streaked down her cheeks, and her hands trembled as she gripped the handle of her luggage.

Arthur stood a few steps away from her, his expression tight and unreadable.

I didn’t need a full explanation to know what had happened. The atmosphere said it all.

“I’m here for Audrey,” I announced firmly, breaking the silence. My tone left no room for argument as I crossed the room to stand beside my friend. “Lucas, grab those bags.”

Lucas hesitated briefly, his gaze flicking back and forth between Arthur and me. He looked like a pup caught in a fight between adult wolves. But after a sharp glare from me, he moved to pick up one of Audrey’s suitcases.

Arthur didn’t stop him. He just stood there, his dark eyes fixed on Audrey like he was trying to figure out what to say to keep her from leaving.

But no words came.

Audrey didn’t glance in his direction as she stepped forward to follow Lucas out. As I walked by Arthur, I couldn’t resist a parting shot.

“Well, congratulations, Alpha King,” I said, my voice sharp with sarcasm. “You did this to yourself.”

His jaw tightened, but he didn’t respond.

In the car, the silence was heavy. Audrey stared out the window, clearly lost in her thoughts, while Lucas drove.

After a while, Lucas cleared his throat, glancing at me nervously. “So… she’s really severing her mate bond with Arthur?”

The pointed look I shot him could’ve turned him to stone. “Mind your own business, Lucas.”

“I’m just… I mean, it’s a big decision.”

“She knows what she’s doing,” I snapped, cutting him off.

Lucas wisely stayed quiet after that. Audrey didn’t react to any of it. She just leaned her head against the cool glass, her hand resting protectively over her stomach.

Later, as we shared non-alcoholic drinks on the small balcony, Sarah broke the silence.

“Do you think there are any good wolves left in this world?” she asked, her tone light but her gaze serious.

I smiled faintly. “There are. My father was one of them.”

She snorted. “Well, that makes one of us. I’m still firmly on the ‘bad wolf’ side of the spectrum.”

Her attempt to lighten the mood worked, and I laughed softly.

“You may be a bad wolf,” I said teasingly, “but you’re the best friend anyone could ask for.”

Her expression softened, and she clinked her glass against mine.

“I’ll help you raise these pups, Audrey,” she said suddenly, her voice firm with conviction. “Whatever you need, I’m here.”

Tears pricked at my eyes, and I looked away quickly, pretending to focus on the moonlit territory below. “Thank you, Sarah.”

The next morning, she helped me finish organizing my den before we left together for the therapy center.

I handed in my resignation despite Sarah’s protests.

Victoria confronted me, her smirk infuriating.

“You’re leaving, I take it,” she said smugly.

“Yes,” I replied coolly.

“And the territory he gave you?” she asked. “Will you be returning that too?”

I met her gaze coldly, not allowing her provocations to touch me. “That’s none of your concern. But know this: I chose to leave him.”

Her smirk faltered for a moment.

“You and he,” I said sharply, “are both disgraces to this pack.”
