Ella stood in the middle of a battlefield, the field was more like a blood-bath. The stench of blood and death filled the air. This wasn’t a regular war; both werewolves and vampires teamed up to fight against a voracious beast and his merciless allies. But the more they fought, the more the beast was gaining ground. More vampires and werewolves dropped to the ground. Ella felt helpless as she watched in horror as the battle turned into a massacre.

Suddenly there was a loud scream.

Her body froze.

Her breath ceased, her chest tightened and her eyes widened as she turned to see the claws of one of the beast’s allies deeply embedded in the heart of Derek.

Time seemed to stop.

Her voice seemed lost as she tried to scream.

Immediately a shadow fell above her, she raised her eyes to see the beast. His eyes were black like the abyss, his size bigger than anything she had ever seen, his hair was long and his face was very scary. The shocking thing was that there was not a single scratch on him, it was more like he was invisible to the whole battle happening around him.

Immediately, he raised his claws, an evil smirk tugging at the sides of his lips.

Ella froze.

She couldn’t move

Her body felt trapped.

She couldn’t run away, she felt rooted to the spot.

She closed her eyes as she awaited the inevitable.

But it never came.

She opened her eyes slightly but the sight before her was unbelievable, her eyes widened in disbelief, she shook her head frantically.

No. No! Noooo!!

Valen!

Nooooo!!!

She screamed.

Valen stood before her, shielding her with his body as the claws of the beast took him down.

The beast let out a Demonic laugh, he leaned down and whispered.

“Only I can win this war”

Then he raised his claws…

SLASH!

“Ella wakeup, it’s just a nightmare, wakeup!” Derek said, his strong hands shaking her awake gently but urgently.

Ella gasped as she opened her eyes wide, her chest heaving, her gaze unfocused.

“No. No. No!” she whimpered, shaking her head frantically, her body trembling violently.

“Ella look at me, it’s just a nightmare, please look at me” Derek said, his voice becoming frantic as he holds her face and brings her to face him.

Ella’s wide, tear-filled eyes slowly regained focus as she locked eyes with his.

Her chest, still heaving up and down.

She shakes her head crying frantically.

“I can’t do it, no, I can’t do it!”

Derek’s heart clenched hearing the raw pain in her voice.

“Oh moon goddess, what am I supposed to do? It can’t end like this.”

“This isn’t fair..” Ella choked

Derek didn’t say anything, he just held Ella to himself as she cried out.

Valen walked in beholding the scene before him.

His heart clenched as his hands curled into fist by his sides.

He turned to walk away but Ella’s broken voice called out to him.

“Valen”

He paused. His back still turned to her.

“Valen, please… don’t leave”

Valen closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.

Ella’s voice had never sounded this desperate.

Slowly he turned around meeting Ella’s tearful gaze.

She looked up at Derek, her voice filled with cold rage.

“Derek, our pup wasn’t miscarried, It was murdered by Sandra and Kelvin”

A deadly silence filled the room.

Derek’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening.

“Sandra did this to you?” Derek asked, his eyes blazing with anger.

Ella nodded her head. “They used our pup to start the spreading of the plague”

Derek stood abruptly as he paced the room. “This is unbelievable, how could they be so heartless to do that to an innocent pup”

He ran his hands through his hair. “Where’s Sandra? I must kill her!”

“Sandra won’t be causing trouble anymore.” Valen muttered, his gaze hardened.

Ella and Derek turned to him. “What do you mean?”

“She’s my brother Sebastian’s mistress”

Ella’s eyes widened. How is that possible? She’s married to Alpha Kelvin.”

“Well, I don’t know the details of their relationship”

“But that doesn’t answer the question,” Derek said sharply.

“Sebastian was just banished”

“What? Why?” Ella asked.

“He’s dangerous. Evidence proved that he had exposed the clan to danger several times and he’s in cohort with Sandra.” Valen explained.

“So are you saying she was banished alongside him?” Derek asked.

“No. I don’t have the power to banish a werewolf, I could have killed her outrightly if I had found her. And since Sebastian has been banished, for the fear of her life, she wouldn’t remain here. Though my people are on the lookout for her.”

Derek’s hands tightened into fist “I would hunt her and Kelvin down and they would pay dearly for what they did!”

He paused suddenly. Seeming to realize something as he turned to face Ella.

“Ella… You survived the wolfsbane.” he swallowed as he continued. “Does that mean you have an Alpha blood running through your veins?”
