Derek and Valen exchanged glances. Their murderous aura dissipated but the trace of disbelief and doubt was still in their eyes.
They stared at Ella and Drake, back and forth, trying to see how it’s even possible.
“Aside from his hair color and eyes, he looks nothing like you” Derek blurted out, unable to contain his anger seeing Ella defend a stranger that way.
A flash of irritation crossed across Ella’s face. “And isn’t that enough to prove he’s my brother!?” Ella snapped, still protecting Drake.
Derek’s jaw clenched. “No!”
Ella’s eyes widened in anger, she was about to retort when Valen stepped in.
He exhaled deeply, his voice calmer than Derek’s, he knew something was wrong with Ella, but he couldn’t place what it was. He arched his brow as he watched her closely.
“You say he’s your brother Ella?”
“Yes Valen, I just found my long-lost brother. You should be happy for me shouldn’t you?” Ella responded
Derek scoffed loudly. “As if”
Valen’s eyes traveled to the young man standing behind Ella, his gaze scrutinizing and dangerously cold, sending chills down the spine of Drake, but Ella’s unwavering support made Drake straighten up, meeting Valen’s gaze and hiding the fear within him.
Ella shot Derek an angry glare. “I don’t expect you to understand what it means to be reunited with your real family. You have lived your life so comfortably and perfectly under the guidance of Alpha Crown, who handed everything over to you including his precious daughter, you have no idea what someone like me went through.”
Derek swallowed, his anger bubbling above the surface as his breath hitched, his hands clenched into tight fists.
“What did you just say Ella?” He asked, his voice coming out in whispers, taking a step forward, his eyes glaring red as Leo was fighting to take over.
Valen shot out his hands and stopped him.
“Calm down Derek, this isn’t Ella, you know she would never say such” he whispered for Derek’s hearing alone.
Derek took a long look at Ella and gradually calmed down.
Valen was right, he should stop allowing his emotions to get the best of him. But the sight of Ella protecting a strange man tugged painfully in his heart, even Leo wasn’t calm at this moment, he just wanted to come out and tear the guy’s mask off so Ella could come back to her senses and see him for what he truly was.
But he knows he couldn’t be rash, like Valen said, they need to be calm and handle this without letting things get out of hand. Ella was powerful now, way more than when he first met her at the northern pack’s hospital. They can’t afford any rash actions now, they need to find a way to bring Ella back to her senses.
But how?
Valen stepped forward, his voice effortlessly calm, Derek applauded him in his heart. “Let’s all take a seat”
Ella, holding the hands of Drake, led him to a seat and they both sat down.
Derek and Valen followed suit, the actions of Ella didn’t escape their eyes, she was holding onto him as if the moment she let’s go, he would be taken away from her.
As soon as they were all seated, Valen opened his mouth to say something but quickly shut his mouth when he noticed Ella’s glare, he knew that one wrong word from him and everything was ruined.
Valen heaved a sigh, clearing his throat. “So…?” he asked, shooting a questioning gaze at the young man.
“Drake.” the young man responded smiling
“Drake. Drake. Drake” Valen repeated as if trying to get used to the name.
“So you say Ella is your sister?”
“Yes I did❞ Drake replied, turning to look at Ella and giving her a warm reassuring smile.
Warmth spread through Ella as she smiled back.
Derek and Valen glanced at each other and then back to Drake.
Derek scoffed. “Your sister? Who told you she’s your sister? Do you even know Ella’s identity?
Oh, of course Drake knew quite well, he was well informed.
Drake chuckled. “Please, I don’t want to be reminded of that but I guess it’s for a purpose-the alpha blood skipping me and choosing my sister, I mean. He said, squeezing Ella’s hand softly and smiling.
His smile grated on Derek’s nerves but he forced himself to remain calm, this bastard would give out himself one way or the other.
Just then, Dorian entered and whispered something into Valen’s ears.
Valen was stunned.
How’s that possible?
How could everything this young man had said clicked?
Could he really be Ella’s brother like he claimed?
A smug smile spread across Drake’s face as he watched Valen’s expression, he knew they might have gone to check him out.
Of course, all he said was true, he had lost a sister the same age as Ella, that’s why he had been the perfect man for this mission. They knew everything was going to be checked and they couldn’t afford a mistake.
He smiled as he turned to look at Ella. Her eyes gleaming with happiness. He knows the elixir had taken effect and as long as she believes in her heart that he’s her brother, then every other thing will work perfectly fine.
But he needed to act fast, he was told the elixir just had a short term effect, he needs to get her out of here.
But how would he bypass these two men?
