Aww Seven Exes Begged Cute Blocked novel Chapter 103

**A Promise Written on the Rusted Edge of Time**
by Dael Rowan Sire

The following morning, Jaxson strolled into the office, his routine almost mechanical. Yet, as he passed by Summer’s desk, an instinctive glance was drawn to her usual spot.

She was typically the first to arrive, her energy lighting up the room even before the sun had fully risen. But today, as the clock ticked closer to nine, her chair remained conspicuously vacant.

Initially, he brushed it off, assuming she had simply indulged in a rare moment of oversleeping.

His mind wandered back to the phone call she had made the previous day. That conversation had felt like a tentative olive branch, a sign of reconciliation. A smile tugged at his lips as he recalled her laughter, the warmth in her voice. Maybe, just maybe, he would find a moment later to reach out to her again.

As the clock struck 10:30 a.m., the department meeting commenced with the usual punctuality.

Halfway through the agenda, a sudden commotion broke the monotony. Diana Roberts sat frozen, her eyes glued to her computer screen, and then, with a piercing scream, she shattered the tense silence.

Jaxson’s brow furrowed, his mood darkening instantly. “Diana. We’re in the middle of a meeting. What’s happening?” His voice held an edge of authority, but concern crept in.

“Summer… Summer’s been attacked!”

Diana’s voice trembled, laced with fear. The sight of her shaking hands sent a chill down Jaxson’s spine.

A wave of disbelief crashed over him, his mind reeling as if struck by a sledgehammer. The world around him faded to white noise.

Without thinking, he shot up from his chair, the sound of it scraping violently against the floor echoed like thunder in the tense room. His voice emerged raw and barely restrained, “What the hell do you mean, ‘attack’?!”

It was an uncharacteristic outburst, one he had never allowed himself in front of his team.

Diana turned her laptop toward him, tears streaming down her cheeks, and as he caught sight of the screen, the air was violently ripped from his lungs.

Two minutes felt like an eternity, each second twisting like a knife in his chest.

In the grainy video, Summer was being dragged by her hair into a shadowy alley by a man. She fought fiercely, her spirit undeterred, but he overpowered her, kicking her to the ground.

Even as he rained blows upon her, she reached desperately for the watch on her wrist, pressing the emergency button repeatedly, a frantic plea for help.

The watch he had gifted her, the one embedded with a tracking chip, the very device that listed HIM as her emergency contact.

A cold wave of dread washed over him, freezing every drop of blood in his body.

His fingers fumbled as he pulled out his phone. The call log was pristine, devoid of any missed calls.
