Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 104

Julian opened his eyes and looked over.

The car was dim, lit intermittently by the passing streetlights.

It made his eyes look dark and profound.

She felt a chill crawl up the back of her neck, like she was being watched by a predator.

Isabel edged away, pressing her back so tightly against the car door there wasn't a sliver of space left.

She could feel a cold sweat breaking out on her skin, and she shivered as the air conditioning blew over her.

She had never felt this way since she'd known him.

He had never once shown her such a cold expression.

For a moment, she'd forgotten what kind of man he really was.

“Julian...”

“Pfft.” The man chuckled. “Well, what now? You figured me out.”

“...”

Isabel didn’t believe a word of it.

Although nearly everything Julian said was a lie,

she had a strong feeling this statement was particularly false.

To make up for her own recklessness, she decided to cook a simple meal for them when they got back to Evergreen Ridge Estate.

She’d tried holding a test tube at the lab that afternoon.

Her right hand was still useless, so she decided to start training her left.

She began by practicing flipping ingredients in the skillet.

Julian clearly lacked the unease of a typical guest.

As soon as he walked in, he began to wander around the apartment.

It was too small.

He had seen it all in just a few steps.

He leaned against the kitchen doorway, watching her slender, busy figure, and said, “I have an estate.”

Isabel didn't understand at first. She lifted the skillet with her left hand and poured the stir-fried vegetables onto a plate.

She thought he was complaining about the size of her apartment and said, “Just make do. I don’t have the money to buy an estate.”
