Adrian was nearly six-foot-three.
He was taller than the doorframe itself.
The small space immediately felt claustrophobic with him in it.
After her initial shock, Isabel’s anger began to simmer. “This is the women’s restroom.”
Adrian leaned against the door, his cold gaze fixed on her face as he asked, “If you knew there was a school event today, why didn’t you call your son?”
Isabel urgently needed to use the toilet and tried to push him out.
He was like a mountain, completely immovable.
She became flushed with frustration. “I don’t have time to discuss this with you right now.”
Adrian’s expression made it clear he was prepared to stay there all day until she answered.
He might not have any shame,
but she did.
“Why should I call him?” She tried to keep her voice down, knowing the restroom wasn’t soundproof and not wanting to give him any ammunition to claim she was causing a scene. But her anger was too strong, and her voice cracked. “We’re getting a divorce. The custody agreement clearly states he’s in your care.”
Besides, Oliver had already said he didn't want her as a mother anymore.
He was already calling Selena “mom.” What was there for her to call about?
But Adrian said, “He was waiting for your call yesterday.”
Before Isabel could argue, he added, “He’s a five-year-old boy. Are you, his mother, really going to hold a grudge against him to the point of cutting him off?”
Isabel blurted out, “So what if I do? I’ve done nothing to wrong him. All I want now is a divorce, to get far away from you and your son. It would be best if we never saw each other again for the rest of our lives!”
Faced with her hysteria, Adrian remained impassive. “Even if you’re angry with the child, you shouldn’t be so close to another one today. It will upset him.”
Upset him? How?
He was wearing a matching outfit for Selena.
Even the great Mr. Blackwell was wearing that silly outfit.
She saw a happy family of three.
