...
Amanda tried to fight back online, but the tide was against her.
Her efforts alone weren't enough.
That's why she was so frantic.
"Isabel, open the door!"
A sharp knock sounded on the door of Lab 1.
It was her other colleagues from the lab.
Even the older ones who knew the truth didn't side with Isabel.
"You'd better get out of this lab on your own, or we'll make you regret it."
"Exactly. You haven't been back in years. So what if you developed Y-1? Your name isn't even on it, and you were kicked out of the lab anyway."
"Stop ruining our lab's reputation! If this lab has to shut down because of you and I lose my job, you won't get off easy either!"
"Isabel, get out of the lab!"
Amanda was about to confront them, but Isabel pulled her back.
"Seriously, how can you be so calm?"
Isabel pressed her lips together. "There's nothing on my computer anymore. Including that partial formula."
"What do you mean?" Amanda couldn't quite process it. "Are you telling me you can't prove Selena plagiarized you?"
Isabel nodded. "That's right."
She took off the ID badge around her neck. "So, I have to leave the lab."
"You..." Amanda gripped her hand. "Don't be rash. I'll ask Andrew if he knows anyone who can recover the data."
"Don't bother."
"But..." Amanda's eyes welled up with tears. "If this plagiarism accusation sticks, Isabel, have you thought about what you'll do?"
Isabel managed a slight smile. "Worst case, I'll just quit this line of work. But even if I do, you're all still here. You can still ask me if you have any questions."
