Isabel didn't really have a surname of her own. Hayes was her biological father's name, and her mother had forbidden her from taking hers. The Durantin name was just a temporary cover. She had considered taking her grandmother's surname, but her mother had been against that too. So, the child could only take Julian's name, which felt right since he was the one who brought him here. They were close enough not to stand on such formalities.

The boy was overjoyed, his eyes instantly brightening. "Thank you, Moth—" He paused, then asked cautiously, "Can I call you Mommy? 'Mother' feels a bit distant."

Isabel was speechless again. He was just like Julian, warming up to people so quickly.

Before she could answer, Julian returned from his phone call.

"Daddy, I have a name! It's Edmund," the boy announced happily.

"That's a good name," Julian said. "You can call her Mommy. We're having our wedding soon."

But Edmund still looked at Isabel, his big, dark eyes full of hope and a hint of pleading. Isabel felt that if she said no, he would burst into tears.

"You can."

It was just a title, after all.

"Mommy!" Edmund exclaimed happily.
