Julian gave Evelyn a long, hard look but said nothing.
"Did you come out to get food?"
Only then did Evelyn remember. "Right, right."
But before she could take a step, Isabel emerged with Edmund.
"If we waited for you, the kid and I would have starved to death."
Evelyn chuckled awkwardly, about to reply when a loud child's voice cut her off.
"Mom!"
"Mom, save me! I don't feel good!"
From where Isabel was standing, she couldn't get a clear view of the villa's entrance.
Plus, Oliver was blocked by two towering bodyguards.
She hadn't noticed him at first.
It was only when she heard his voice that she looked over and asked Julian, "What is he doing here?"
"..."
Good question.
Julian didn't answer, instead ushering them inside. "Go eat. Get back to your work. I'll handle this."
Isabel glanced at the sun overhead.
She could see beads of sweat on Julian's forehead.
The temperature had suddenly spiked today; it was getting hot.
"Have you been out here all morning?"
Julian leaned lazily against the wall. "Yep. Soaking up the sun, getting my vitamin D."
"..."
Isabel asked again, "Is Adrian with him?"
"No."
"Then send him to the police station."
Julian said, "Don't worry about it. Tonight, I'll..."
He had assumed Isabel would be in the lab all day.
He couldn't make a move during the day, and Adrian wasn't answering his phone.
So he'd planned to deal with it at night.
