Isabel only cared about one thing: severing her marital ties with Adrian.
She asked Julian, "What happens if I don't go to the wedding?"
"What could happen?" Julian said languidly. "He'll just misunderstand and think you still have feelings for him."
In that case, Isabel knew she had to go, as Mrs. Reed.
"Speaking of weddings," Evelyn piped up, "what's the hold-up with you two? Haven't the preparations been going on for a while?"
Amanda was also puzzled. "With all the people and resources of the Durantin family, it should have been ready in no time."
Isabel hadn't even wanted a wedding in the first place.
It was Julian who had insisted.
Only later did she find out it was because she hadn't divorced Adrian and couldn't legally marry him.
Now that she was legally registered under the name Isabel Ashford, she had forgotten all about the wedding.
Julian hadn't mentioned it either.
All eyes turned to Julian, who chuckled. "I'm not the one planning the wedding. For all I know, my father-in-law isn't ready to marry off his daughter so soon."
"You haven't asked Miles?" Isabel felt that her supposed cousin loved organizing this sort of thing.
Julian pointed to his abdomen. "I don't even know if I'll be dead tomorrow. Where would I find the time to worry about that?"
But since the topic had come up, he gave Miles a call.
