It was true that Isabel had been careless.
But it wasn't a full-blown catastrophe yet.
What she couldn't understand was why Selena wanted to join this specific lab.
“Adrian is so rich. Can't he just fund a lab for her?”
Dylan shot her a look. “You think any lab is like ours?”
He ran a hand through his hair, still fuming. “Even if Adrian bankrolls her own lab, she can't beat your Y-1 with just a partial Y-2 formula. But by joining our lab, which already has the powerhouse Y-1, her work becomes a bonus. If she failed on her own, it would be humiliating. Here, she can always find an excuse to cover it up.”
Isabel listened and had to admit it made sense.
She apologized to Dylan. “It was my fault for being so thoughtless. But please, don't keep holding it over me. That partial formula isn't all that important in the grand scheme of things.”
At this point, what more could Dylan say?
Besides, he trusted Isabel to create something even better.
He just couldn't stand the thought of seeing Selena's two-faced act every day.
“The only person you should be apologizing to is yourself.”
Isabel rubbed her nose. “You’re right.”

Halcyon Hills Residence.
Adrian and Selena entered one after the other.
Oliver was home on sick leave.
He immediately ran to Selena, fetching a pair of slippers for her.
Martha noted that Isabel had never received such treatment.
But it wasn't her place to say anything.
She finished preparing lunch and retreated to the side.
Oliver pulled Selena to a seat at the dining table. She asked him gently, “How are you feeling today, Oliver?”
Oliver replied, “I haven't thrown up anymore. I should be able to go to school tomorrow. It’s boring at home, and Auntie Selena can't play with me.”
Selena patted his head. “I’m sorry, sweetie. Auntie Selena has to work.”
