Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 29

Isabel figured Adrian must have said what he did after the surgery on purpose.

It was a preemptive strike.

Because she had used old Mrs. Blackwell to threaten him first, he had been displeased.

But he hadn't actually told his grandmother the full story of what happened after the cathedral collapsed.

He probably still felt that old Mrs. Blackwell's heart couldn't handle the shock.

Although he resented his marriage to her and had grown distant from his grandmother, she was still his flesh and blood. He cared.

In that case, she couldn't tell the truth either.

Because that heart belonged to her mother.

And she wanted it to keep beating for as long as possible.

“I have to use my left hand, so it’s inconvenient to wear it. I put it away for now.”

Mrs. Blackwell looked somewhat disappointed.

As soon as dinner was over, old Mrs. Blackwell called Isabel away.

“Tell me the truth, child. Do you want a divorce?”

“...”

Fearing old Mrs. Blackwell's intervention, Isabel shook her head. “No, please don’t worry.”

In another month, old Mrs. Blackwell would be eighty years old.

Her eyes may have grown cloudy, but her mind was as sharp as ever.

With Selena back in the country, there was no way she would just stay quiet.

“If you want a divorce, then get one.”

“What?” Isabel was shocked. “Grandma, you...”

Old Mrs. Blackwell took her hand. “You wanted to try, and I gave you that chance. Now you’re unhappy, so it's time to let go. Go and find yourself.”

Isabel hadn't expected this turn of events. Her gaze fell to the spot over old Mrs. Blackwell’s heart. “Are you sure you’re not feeling unwell?”

“I’ve already faced death once before.” Old Mrs. Blackwell smiled. “It’s your mother’s heart that’s living now. She is not weak, and neither am I.”

Isabel’s eyes burned, and she fought back tears, sniffing hard. “Thank you, Grandma...”

“There’s nothing to thank me for.” Old Mrs. Blackwell held her left hand, looking at the bare ring finger. “Even if you divorce, you must still come to my eightieth birthday party.”
