Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 77

Isabel helped old Mrs. Blackwell onto the stage. Facing so many gazes at once, she felt a pang of nervousness.

After escorting her, Isabel intended to step down while old Mrs. Blackwell gave her speech and return later. But old Mrs. Blackwell held her hand tightly, keeping her there.

“Thank you all for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend an old woman’s eightieth birthday. This may very well be my last birthday celebration, so please, don’t be shy. Eat, drink, and be merry. I hope you all can live as long, healthy, and happy as I have.”

The audience erupted in thunderous applause.

Just as Isabel began to relax, a child’s voice suddenly cut through the air.

“Mommy!”

Oliver ran onto the stage, grabbed Isabel’s hand, and started pulling her toward the edge. “Mommy, go divorce Daddy right now!”

HIS voice wasn’t quiet. Old Mrs. Blackwell had just finished speaking and had set down the microphone to catch her breath. His words carried clearly through the hall.

The guests were all stunned, then utterly confused.

When they had asked Adrian earlier, he had only introduced Oliver as his son. And when Oliver had called Selena “Mommy,” Adrian hadn't denied it. They had all assumed Selena was his wife.

So why was the young master now calling another woman “Mommy”?

Who was Adrian’s actual wife? The beautiful woman on stage seemed close with old Mrs. Blackwell, so she clearly wasn't someone they could afford to offend.

“Don’t make a scene,” Isabel said, pulling him a few steps toward the side of the stage, away from the microphone. “Today is your great-grandmother’s eightieth birthday. We’ll talk about this after it’s over.”

But Oliver wouldn’t have it. He had just gone to the restroom with Auntie Selena, who had told him that his mommy and daddy weren’t getting divorced. She said he shouldn’t call her “Mommy” anymore because she would never marry his daddy; she was just like his daddy’s sister.

But he had seen the redness in Auntie Selena’s eyes and knew that wasn’t the whole story. Besides, he wanted Auntie Selena to be his mother.

So Mommy and Daddy had to get a divorce!
