Blizzard, First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 80

The rest of the Blackwell family also departed. The divorce was ultimately a matter between the couple. Whether they were present or not, if Adrian wanted a divorce, the outcome would be the same. Besides, Adrian’s temperament was unpredictable; it was best not to risk straining family ties. They would let him handle it himself.

Isabel, however, was confused by Adrian’s actions. The Blackwells weren’t strangers; they would find out about the divorce eventually. Whatever. She could never figure Adrian out.

Since she had a moment, she got straight to the point. “It’s been over half a month. Even if the paperwork is complicated, it should have been processed by now, shouldn’t it, Mr. Blackwell?”

Adrian leaned against the doorframe, his superior height allowing him to look down on her with disdain. His voice was cold. “So, you couldn't wait any longer and decided to leak your identity as Mrs. Blackwell at my grandmother’s birthday party?”

Isabel didn’t understand. “That was our son. It had nothing to do with me.”

She pressed on. “All I want to know is when we can sign the divorce papers.”

Adrian scoffed, his voice frigid. “If I sign them with you now, what does that make me look like?”

Isabel tried to reason with him. “With your status, no one would dare say a word.”

“Isabel, I offered you generous terms,” Adrian said. “You forced me into this marriage, you’ve lived comfortably at Halcyon Hills Residence with Martha to take care of you. I gave you a credit card and a car. I have never mistreated you. You said you wanted a divorce, and it will happen once the paperwork is done. From start to finish, you’ve been the one setting the pace. What more are you dissatisfied with? Why did you have to cause a scene today?”

Isabel opened her mouth, but no words came out. She honestly had no idea what she had done to make him misunderstand her so completely.
