Old Mr. Reed simply said, "You're wasting your time here. I'm not going to Westbridge."
With that, he left the kitchen, sat down in front of the cabin, and poured himself a cup of tea.
Isabel walked over as well.
Adrian, who had made a bizarre appearance on the mountain earlier, now reappeared holding a food container.
Selena immediately ran up to him, sighing sadly.
Adrian raised a hand and patted her shoulder. "It's okay, we'll find a way. Eat first."
Old Mr. Reed only had one small table, big enough for two people.
Adrian had brought his own. He set it up nearby, and the meal he'd brought was exquisite, a feast for the senses.
It clearly cost a fortune.
It must have been bought from somewhere far away, yet it hadn't been affected by the long journey.
It was obvious he had gone to great trouble.
The ever-busy Mr. Blackwell.
He never had time to go back to Halcyon Hills Residence to see his legal wife and son.
It was just a matter of who he made time for.
Isabel glanced over once, then looked away.
She was gradually becoming immune to Adrian doing things for Selena.
Old Mr. Reed poured her some tea but said nothing.
He had finished his flatbread and stood up to brew some medicine over the fire.
Selena invited old Mr. Reed to have some more food, but he replied, "I don't have the stomach for such fancy food."
Selena rarely got snubbed by men.
She could usually charm anyone, young or old.
What's more, old Mr. Reed had once lived in the same compound as her grandfather.
