"That's good to hear. Have you thought about giving us a chance?" Gideon asked confidently.
Giselle sneered, "Oh, I'd love to, but what if my husband doesn't agree?"
"Your husband?" He frowned.
"Yeah, I'm a married woman with five sons. Are you sure you're interested in me?"
He couldn't help but chuckle. "That's perfect. I like married women. You're just my type!"
Giselle thought she was quite daring, but up against a real rogue, she realized she didn't stand a chance. So, she buried herself in her phone and ignored him.
When she looked up, she noticed a private room about six feet away with its door open. The room was right across from her, so she involuntarily glanced inside and spotted a very familiar face… It was Donovan.
It was just her luck because he looked up at that exact moment, too, and their eyes met.
It was only a few seconds of eye contact, but she hurriedly looked down, pretending to focus on her phone, though inside she was anything but calm.
Giselle had already seen his car in the parking lot, so she'd figured he was somewhere nearby. However, she didn't expect him to be sitting right across from her in that private room with his business associates.
When he saw her, his expression stiffened as well, especially when he noticed the man sitting across from her. He couldn't help but tighten his grip on the stem of his wine glass.
Giselle no longer cared about him, and she had no intention of running away or avoiding him. After all, he had his life, and she had hers. Neither would interfere with the other.
However, she suggested, "Red wine's boring. Why don't we order a bottle of vodka instead?"
"Sure!" He hadn't expected her to be such a bold drinker, but it only made her more intriguing. Fired up, he joined her.
The two of them drank and chatted, and as the alcohol settled in, Giselle started to let go of her hostility toward Gideon and started clinking glasses and drinking more enthusiastically with him.
Eventually, he took the empty seat beside her and personally topped off her glass. He casually rested his strong arm on the back of her chair, leaned in, and clinked glasses with her. "Here's to letting bygones be bygones."
The door to the private room was left open, and Donovan's eyes were glued to Giselle as he watched every moment of her lively, uninhibited drinking with Gideon.
When he saw Gideon wiping the wine off Giselle's neck with a napkin and noticed her enjoying it, he couldn't help but clench his glass… until a sharp crack echoed. The wineglass in his hand shattered.
